Anyone else sad to trade their car in??
Getting ready to trade my 05 g35 6MT in like this week for my 135... and now that the time has actually come to do this I am actually a bit sad about getting rid of her... It is almost like she is terminally ill and these are the my last days with her... I feel myself really savoring our drives together this week... especially today coming home from work after hearing that it might happen as soon as Thursday night.
Just wondering if anyone else was a bit sad about trading their car in even though they will be getting a great car like the 1er in return? I am going to take a bunch of pics of her before the trade and I will definitely miss her even while I have a blast driving my 135 around....

I hated getting rid of my c4. I let her go about a month ago. Now that Ive been driving a 2004 jeep liberty around for the past month I miss her even more. The 1 series couldnt come soon enough.

I feel the same way about my 330ci. My first car, has treated me well and we have been through a lot together (college, first job, etc.) I wish I could keep it within the family for someone that would use it, but I cannot. Going to be a sad day when I get rid of it.

I've been kinda sick of my 2004 Crossfire for the past couple of months and itching to get rid of it. I think it knows this too cause literally in the last 2 weeks, my right headlight went out (at only 25,000 miles) and it's making some weird noises now. Even more reason to turn it in ASAP.
But, in the last week or so, I've gotten a little nostalgic...the last time I'll ever wash it....the last time I'll ever put gas in it. We've been through some good times and it still drives extremely well, but a lil too luxury and not quite enough...umph. It's time has come, and I'm even turning it in a month early and just paying for that unused month cause I can't in good conscience let my 135i just sit there at the dealer since it's come a month early. |

As much as I will miss the nostalgia and the fact that I am so comfortable in that car I look forward to "bonding" with my new 135.... hopefully this weekend...

Yeah it doesn't have anything to do with what kind of car it is... it is the things you went through while owning it... it's like an old friend.

I have to say I'm really going to miss the GTO. It's not without its flaws, but it's a beast, and I've had some great times in it. It's the best highway missle I've ever owned, and I doubt the 135 will change that.
My best memory is of a girl in the passenger seat staring in awe as a Pontiac is inching back up beside her boyfriend's 360 Modena at around 145MPH. I could read her lips saying "WHAT THE FUCK?!?!" as she stared at the GTO emblems on the fenders. I don't think a BMW would have had quiet the same affect |

When I placed the order for my 135i conv on April 2nd, I had buyer's remorse for about 24 hours.
I'm still not sure if I'm trading it in, keeping it, or selling it privately, but I have a 2005 John Cooper Works Mini S conv. Like the 135i I'm getting, I bought it in the first month available in this country (insurance company can't translate the VIN yet). Like Mini, it was fun to own a car that no one has seen before. It will be like that with the 135i conv for a while. My Mini is great, and I'm going to miss it. One last hurrah with it next week when I go to the Dragon rally in NC. I know I'm going to love 135i, but I'll be sad to see the Mini go...screw it, maybe I'll just keep both! |

If it weren't for legal technicalities, I'd set my CTS-V on fire and crash it into the dealer's showroom. Hell, the thing's liable to spontaneously combust before lease end. Dammit I'm gonna giggle like a little kid when I ditch this mf'er.

I will be a bit sad to trade in my car, it was my first car and I loved it...would keep it if I could but it requires some work and it isnt really worth all that so it really isnt economic to spent the money to fix it up...plus I would still need/want a new car and have no place to put my current car except out on the street...and shuffling cars is soo annoying...sigh...

I'm getting out of my Lexus RX350. I'll miss the space inside and the comfort on looong trips, but it's boring as an everyday car. And, I'm sick of paying the high cost of oil changes, etc. It's a nice SUV, but after two years of ownership, I've only had people in the back seat a dozen times. So, rear space isn't as important as I thought it would be. It's really just a place for my dog and like my Mini, I'm sure I will not have any complaints from my four legged buddy. I'm the type of person who can easily take six months to a year to decide on a car. I placed my order after my test drive of the 135 - my wife couldn't believe it!

Not really. The main reason I'm getting a new car is because I'm sick of the old one. I will miss the utility of my current car (i.e. being able to load large objects in the back) but I'm sure the speed and performance of the 135i will more then make up for that.

I traded in my Cayman real quick, before even thinking about it. I kinda miss it now, but the wait for the 1 is worse...

I know how you guys feel. I just sold my RSX Type-S today with the intentions of using the money for the down payment on the 135i. I've been trying to sell her for months now and finally I got a buyer and it felt bittersweet. I was happy that this could open the door to the 135 but i was sad to see her go also. It was my first car i ever bought and paid for myself. Owner her 5 years and drover her 99k miles. Lots of good times and some bad but still feels like losing an old friend.

I'm sure I will miss my Mazdaspeed MX-5 but I never really got comfortable driving it in the mountians with all the power it has now. the chassis isn't designed for the kind of power I am putting through it and when the turbo spools mid corner it can get interesting. The 1 series is exactly the car that I have wanted and I can't wait to get it. I will miss the top down cruising and the great community over at mazda-speed.com

Not trading here, but selling 2 cars that hold alot of sentimental value to me.
1.) 350z - inherited from my father in 2006 when he passed away, thought long and hard about doing this, but came to the realization that my father was planning on selling it anyway before he passed away since he was looking at Lotus Elises, and after a nice long meeting with my mom and older brother, I made the decision. At least buying the 135i is kind of paying homage to one of my favorite childhood memories of him buying a E36 Black Coupe in 1992. 2.) 944 - Received it in 2003 as my college graduation gift from my bro...restored it from being a fishtank to a classy sports car again. Spent countless hours with one of my good friends repairing the electricals and respraying the car but lost all enthusiasm for it after a few years.
