I got my First real offer.
I have looked at 2 dealers near me several times, never really talking price. Just the usual things and looking. I decided to contact another dealer in Chicago(40 miles from me) A salesman contacted me 3-4 times with different cars besides the 1 series. Actually 1 was pretty good. He had a new 328xi coupe with several options, MSRP was $43,500 and was discounted to $41,500. Then I decided to e-mail him again with exactly what I wanted. I also explained I am on 3 BMW forums and know all about the new and used car business. I also talked about needing all the numbers besides the price, such as MACO and training. Well I got an e-mail from his mananger saying "WOW, sounds like you have done your homework" We are offering $500 off MSRP. Not bad considering this is in Chicago, most new cars don't get discounted there, many people with CASH, JACK, MONEY, $$$.

Cool. I couldn't even get my dealer to throw in free floor mats let alone offer me any sort of discount. If you can afford the car I'd say go for it.

500 dollars is decent off the 1 series. Also I think its easier to wheel and deal here in Chicago. I mean there HAS to be AT LEAST 7 dealerships in a 40 mile radious. I know some places only have 1 with in 100 miles. Dont forget about Eduard Moes over there at Knaus. Give him a ring (I have his number pm me) and see what he can do for you.

All the dealers around me have all offered $500 off MSRP.
In fact one dealership through Costco auto program said the Costco member price was $500 off of MSRP. I think better deals can be had. |

i guess when the dealerships are so far away from each other, they know they can stand firm on the price and still get away with it. when you have more dealerships closer to each other, you can play their game and walk off the lot threatening to go to the next dealership.

I guess I will go to all the other Chicagoland dealers except Knauz first, and get their best offer on paper. Then I will go to Knauz and HOPE they will match or come very close to the best offer. I just want to deal and have any service done at the dealer in which I purchase the car at. That way I won't get attitude, which will happen, I am sure. I am 9 miles from Knauz in Lake Bluff IL. The next 2 closest dealers are Anderson in Crystal Lake about 30 miles away, and Fields BMW in Northfield about the same. All the others dealers are 40-50+ miles away. So these are the first 2 dealers I will get an offer at.
