Custom Radar detector install

Hi All,
Thought I would share some picks of my custom radar detector install.
I created a DIY too. http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=13416

The mount point for the detector is a bit low, IMHO. I really like what you did with the remote display.

Nice install, looks very clean. However, shouldn't the remote display be somewhere in your line of sight? Like near the instrument cluster for instance. It seems to defeat the purpose if you have to look down at your center console view the signal. Why wouldn't you just look at the display on detector itself, which is mounted on the windshield anyway?

Edit:

On second glance, I see the console mounted piece may not really be a remote alert display. Is it just to show you whether the detector is on? And a mute botton? I only owned V1s and have no experience with the Escort detectors.

Thanks,
Yea it’s more of an indicator that the radar detector is on and you are getting an alert but don’t display the type of alert. I put it there for ease of reaching the mute button. Never have to look down as I know its there and that’s where my hand is due to resting my arm on the armrest.

Looks like those pics have your car on the lift in your garage while you took the pic! You set up a ladder to get in and out of the car?

LOL wow I'm surprised no one noticed that sooner. Yes, its on a lift and yes I used a ladder to get into the car. It was easier then bringing it down and back up to park my other car back into the garage.
I posted pics of my garage overhaul in the off topic area. heres the link http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9689
