Mod potential
Hey,
I've been reading and searching this forum and there is a ton of info on available mods. But would like some opinions on how realistic some of my goals will be if I decide on getting a 135I. I have always wanted a car capable of mid to high 12sec. 1/4 mi. times in street trim (no drag radials, nos, taking out the seats etc.). Of course I would like to sacrifice as little daily drivability as possible. Also will consider some minor suspension mods like a 1.5 inch drop and some wheels/tires. How realistic is it to get the 135 there without getting too invasive and hardcore with the mods? I would like to stick to some basic bolt ons, intake, cat back, some sort of chip or piggyback. And I guess I should consider keeping things simple/removable for warranty issues. Any ideas comments are appriciated Swade |

Traction is the bigger issue here...with drag radials/slicks, no problem with nothing more than a mild piggyback. Without though, you would need a well preped track with a perfect launch. To be consistently in the 12's on stock runflats, I'd say a piggyback, intake, and dps. GL...

You want to see 120 mph trapspeeds..... Thats a 12-15mph increase.. You will need at least 400 rwhp for that. From what I have read that is the limit that the engine can handle...
120 mph trap is a very lofty goal with just bolt ons!!! |

Full boltons and race gas will put you in the low twelves or high elevens at 115-118. Getting 120s will require more fuel than can be delivered at the moment. Mid high 12s at 110-113 will take a piggyback and a decent launch.

I think 120's are not going to be easy to get without loosing some weight and more fuel. I'd guess with some good driving and what is currently out there mod wise, we may see 116 - 117mph ... but that won't be the average joes numbers .. If you want something w/ 120 traps for cheap .. look for a used 03/04 cobra .. no problems getting what you want there .. Crowley

I think 12 seocnd is totally doable with a rear end swap for diff gears. Also with great grippy tires.

Thanks for all the info guys
Its good to know that mid 12's are realistic with somewhat minor mods (of course, driving skill has probably will have more to do with it). That will leave more $$ for some tasteful suspension and cosmetic mods! |
