my babys famous (well been in a photoshoot)
Well as the title says my babys been in the spot light, its been in a photo shoot for an up and comming BMWcar Magazine feature. The feature is about re-mapping the "un-mappable" new BMW ECU's. i drove down to the guys at evolve who had already done a shoot for a 320d earlier in the day. I arrived just after 5pm and was introduced to (i think the editor, although i could be wrong) and the camera man. they took the car for 10 minutes to go and take some driving pics before we then took some high speed pics (there is a sneaky way of doing but i'll let you figure it out).
The editor had already driven the 123D in a previous review so knew what to expect, he had also drove the 135i a fair bit. After taking the car for a drive with imran in the passenger seat he came back with a beaming smile, cat got the cream so to speak. He said he was very impressed with the power delivery, torque and just how bloody quick it was, not like a desiel at all. his last words where, it felt and drove like a 135i and in noway would be embarrased, enough said i feel!!!! if anyone is thinking of a remap for a 123D then have a read of the feature comming up, i think its going in december edition but available in november, not even they could answer why magazines work in this way though. A big thanks to BMWcar Magazine and evolve (it was an evolve remap) for a great time. cheers Jonathan |

Great! Good to know! I pick up my 123d M-sport tomorrow. And there is an international magazine store across the street from my apartment. It was meant to be.
I'll be looking out for the article.

Other remaps are available you know
Just kidding - sounds like a fun day :w00t: . Do you know what the basis of the article is - i.e. are they just talking about the fact that it's now possible, comparing stock to standard, comparing different tuners? Be great to test out his gut feel - a meet needs to be organised - stock 123d, remapped 123d, stock 135i, remapped 135i - Santa Pod maybe? Anyone up for it? (Actually, does anyone here actually even have a mapped 135i yet?)

Even better I guess would a a combined RR shoot-out somewhere independant but BMW friendly (Thorney Motorsport maybe?) combined with a Santa Pod trip. Would certainly generate some traffic to 1addicts, especially if we were testing different remaps against each other....

like the sound of that clived, be a really good day out. love the idea of ripping round a track.
Think the aricle is about 1: performance of the remap against standard 2:about the tuner who did it. they are also going to do a 335i, mapped/standard - 330d manual/auto - remaped/standard. |

I imagine it was some stupid publication date war that happened ages ago - everyone trying to get their next issue out first to get their bought instead of some rival mag.

Do you have a power/torque graph, before and after the remap?

Just picked up the magazine and read the article. Very nice. I'll be very interested in getting this remap on my 123d once I have put a few more kms on it. Anyone know if Evolve have any branches in Belgium or the Netherlands? Or are they just UK based?
