JB3 CEL Problem
I installed my JB3 yesterday, (there were some serious issues) Terry resolved them via a phone call (I think). Started up the car, drove it hard, it ran great. I went to take a turn at a normal speed, and the yellow 1/2 engine came on, no turbo's (which I assume is limp mode) my dual climate control stopped working (either just hot or just cold) my radio would not work. I got home turned the car off, and the radio would not power off after I turned the whole car off and locked it. I came back to the car about 15 minutes later. Started it up, and EVERYTHING worked. No light, no problems. I drove it to the gas station with Terry on the phone filled from a 1/2 tank to a full tank, and started it back up. Terry told me to try and get it to happen again, and see when the light comes on. I drove it hard, seriously hard. Nothing happened. Woke up this morning drove it hard to work and still nothing.
Can anyone help me? I terrified that the codes are going to show up logged in the ECU and BMW will see them.

Have you talked to T and asked him about the codes being logged in the DME for BMW to see?

Drove again, and the yellow 1/2 engine came on and the car went into limp mode.

Limp mode again. Turned the car off, and started back up fine-- normal acceleration. I think I'm just going to take it off and send it back to Terry. have him figure it out. The fact that the wires were messed up when I received it and I had to remove the pins and put them in the correct spots, kinda has me nervous that the rest of the wiring may be messed up as well. I'm beginning to lose confidence in the product. I just dont want to lose my warranty due to the limp modes being logged and found my BMW.

of the yellow 1/2 engine or the "Engine Service Soon"? and has your car ever gone into the 'no turbo' all engine mode (I believe this to be limp mode) correct me if I'm wrong.

Yup I just got the Engine Service Soon Light. How do you get rid of it? I'm removing the JB3 Right now. I'll let everyone know if disconnecting the Battery clears the error.

OK I removed the JB3 put the car back to stock. Used an OBD reader found code P142E, cleared the code. Drove the car, feels fine. I start to take a corner and realize my adaptive headlights dont work.

Is your headlight switch on the Automatic setting, because the adaptive headlights dont move when no in the automatic setting.

Another Update! Silverbullet135i was right! and I look like a complete and utter ASS! I figured it out on my own I changed it to the automatic mode and they worked and then came back and read this post and that explains it perfectly.

i'd actually like to hear some more details on the major problems and supposed problem with miswiring on BMS's part.
I am not a BMS fanboy or anything, but I think BMS reputation for having a quality product is pretty solid. I'd also like to see some feedback that says it wasnt installer error. |
