At ~1400 miles...driver's side low beam goes kaput

:bs:

Enjoying a nice drive home after working out and shooting some hoops, windows and sunroof open with the weather at a balmy 68F, intoxicated by the growl of the engine and swoosh of the turbos, I make one last turn into my usual parking spot inside our apt's parking garage and...

*blinking yellow low beam headlight icon from the dash* and then I notice my left side headlight is MIA. I park, get out and sure enough the headlight is out.

Less than two months only ~1,400 miles in, and a week to the day that my wife's C30 had the parking brake get locked up. To quote Cartman, 'laaaame'.

I had the same issue with mine. turned out some of the wires came loose was an easy 20 min fix at the dealer.

the parking brake thing on your wife's c30 is fairly common on the volvo forum it happened allot and has happened a few times with my s40, it is because the rotors oxidize so easily and the pads literally get stuck to the rotors, just move the car every few days, and after a rain drive the car around a bit and it shouldn't happen again.

That sounds about right. They didn't tell us what the root cause was, just that it was commonplace enough to where the parts were on backorder. They replaced the entire e-brake assembly. It happened right after we came back home after Thanksgiving and the car had been sitting for a few days. If is commonplace enough then you'd think they would have redesigned the parts in question by now. It really sucks having to wait 4 hrs for roadside asst. every time you come back from being out of town for a few days.
