Vishnu tuned warranty issue

Anyone having bickering from BMW for warranty work with a piggy on your 135i's back? lol

just wondering if they detect the tune easy or not if you obviously take it out before bringing her into the shop

Intak exhaust any of these things causing issues for warranty?

If I were you, I would remove it before any major engine related warranty repair service. Not need to worry about oil change, brake or warp rotor...etc. If you installed the piggy back ECU yourself, it should not take more than 30 minutes next time removing it.

The only mods you should keep on the car when taking it in for service are the fuzzy dice. All else should be removed.

Can't they check the boost levels of the car and see that it's above the stock numbers? I would assume the ecu records things like that.

Depends on the version of the ECU. Also, depends on what tune your running and what map.

For any service related issues with the car, I would recommend the removal of any mods....unless your good friends with the service advisor and his crew.

If you take out the piggy back or O2 sim before going in for service, won't the engine throw in a CEL if you have down pipes installed. Unless you remove the DPs as well. That's a pain!

I don't see why you would have to remove any exhaust related items. The only parts they could cause to fail would be an O2 sensor right?

Yes. The O2 sensor will not work right on the catless DP.

I think people are worry too much here. I have not seen or heard any BMW dealer denied your free oil change if they saw a intake or catback exhaust mods on your car. Most service techs do not care what kind of mods on your car, they just want to finish the oil change and solicite you for more add on billable services.

Just took out my Procede Rev II before I take the car in for it's 15k oil change tomorrow. It only took 30 minutes. While I'm getting the oil changed, should I get the new software update? I've never experienced any lag, but I would like to have the latest update available. Just worried that the new update will detect aftermarket tunes like my proceed even after it's un-installed. Advice appreciated.

You cannot simply request the latest software under warranty. There has to be a reason for it to be installed: recall, replaced control module, etc. If you want to pay the labor time for it (which could be several hours), that's a different story.

And what kind of billable services can be solicited while the car is under warranty? I'll tell you: NONE. Add-ons on a warranty ticket are a great way to get your service dept audited by BMW.

A standard scope has always been part of an oil service on CBS cars. Whether or not the dealership takes action on a MAP manipulation fault, BMW is going to see it when FASTA data is transferred.

A flat rate tech isn't going to waste their time looking for piggybacks, unless there's a suspicious driveablilty complaint on the repair order. In that case, shame on Mr. Tuner for trying to defraud BMW. They knowingly violated the warranty; they can deal with the consequences.
