JB = turbo lag?
When I got JB2 put on my car, I noticed that it takes a bit longer for all that power to kick in. Now that I've had it for few months, I notice it even more. There's definitely more lag now than before JB2. Of course there's more power when the turbos kick in, but the lag is now more noticable to me. Anyone else made this observation?

The turbos are running more boost and in turn need more time to spool up. I remember this when I had a JB2 on my 335i. Nothing to be worried about it's normal. The JB3 is similar.

The delta between off-boost and on-boost is much bigger now. The stock engine runs very little boost just to keep this delta barely noticeable, but any time you run extra boost it will become noticeable.

If you want a "lagless" tune you get a proceed.
But personally I'm dying to put a JB on my car. I don't mind a peakier power band, it just means I have to shift more aggressively, which is why I got a sports car in the first place =P Plus the JB is the most bang for the buck of any of the N54 tunes out there. |

The 135i has - as we all know - a small, but noticable, turbo-lag. In my ACS1.35i the turbo-lag is gone. I have a very good throttle respons and I do not feel any turbolag anymore. The car feels mean, aggresive and bites itself into the power in any gear, until redline. Personally, I don't like turbolag, especially for sportsdriving. Everytime you hit the gas, nothing comes and finally it does. You cannot drive accurate and you have the feeling that you don't control the power.
have fun ASC1.35i |
