Whats up with the price ??? Or have I missed something ??

So we've decided to buy my wife a 135i convertible
We want a manual lemans blue. (Comes with the Msport pack)
There is one currently at a dealership in qld.
Anyways we go to Stillwells in South Yarra yesterday and I'm bowled over by the price we're given $94200.00.

How does a car with a list price (including GST) of $80809.00 become $94200.00 ???

Car is $80809.00 (thats FULL RETAIL)
Rego is around $600.00
Stamp duty is $4040.00
On my calculator that equals $85449.00

Please help me out here, have I missed something ??

Kind regards
Kev

I paid just over $93K back before the price hike in March 08 for similar specs as yours on my vert.

Dont forget metalic paint $$
M sport pack on 135 vert is not standard like coupe $$
Pro Nav (If you have) $$
Premium Sound (If you have) $$
Comfort Access (If you have) $$
Dealer delivery $$

All these will add 15 to 20 thousand to your standard retail price..

The car you are looking at sounds like its spec up by the price they are asking.

Thanks Guys
The full retail on the car is $80809.00, that includes the Msport pack and the blue tooth thingy, it's got no other options.

Remember though, that this is the FULL RETAIL price (they do discount dont they ??).
Is dealer delivery $10,000.00 ???

Just with the basic options you have mentioned (metalicpaint/M sport pack) on the BMW configurator it comes to $82,509..

What I forgot to add on was Stamp Duty which is rougly about $5,500 I think plus delivery and dealer charges which could add another $5000 depending on the dealer.

I got the stamp duty equation wrong by about $2000.00, but I still cant see where the money is going. $5-6k for delivery is criminal.

Kev, you serious about buying this? I can get you a deal on BMWs. Just ask Taka. And I can't believe that you are getting a 1 series. Times must be tough huh? Haha.

Correct me if Im wrong, luxury car tax is added after the rrp of car + options. Then the stamp duty is calculated based on that. Add about $5000 for dealer delivery, this part im not sure if gets added before or after stamp duty.
End of the day someone is making alot of money with all these tax on a tax.

Are you sure there isn't any other options on the car? You might not want the options, but they might be on the car.

$80809 sounds like a list price with no option on a coupe including stamp duty and rego and delivery as well.

real price of 135i verts

According to the BMW configurator, the list price of a manual le mans blue vert is $82,500. On top of this you will pay around $2,500 in dealer charges plus around $700 on road cost. So if stamp duty is around $5,000, that makes the price around $91,000 so there must be some other options that you have overlooked.

FYI, for a demo silver msport 135i auto vert with just over 1,00km on the clock, I paid $80k drive away after driving a hard bargain. My advice is never, ever buy a brand new car. I have always bought demos and always saved thousands of dollars.

Demo cars

Yes it was a great price. They had it listed for $84,900 plus statutory charges. Ater much bargaining I offered them $80K to drive away right there and then and they accepted. I got it during the recent BMW Xpo and they were desparate to shift cars and far as I can see nothing much has changed. Personally, I lurrrrv demos. Over the last 8 years, I have only bought demos including a 135i vert, X5 3.0d, 323i and an Audi tt quattro vert. On each purchase I have saved over $10K.
