FS: Alutec Strut Tower Brace, Toronto, ON, Canada $250
Hi All, Christmas was good to me, I got a Dinan Strut Brace for my Z4, so my Alutec one is up for sale. It was purchased ~ 2-3 years ago as part of a group buy from the old z4um.com I've had it installed in both my former '03 and my current '05 Z4. Part is in mint shape (it's a brace, it's not like it's got moving parts to break). Being offered for sale is only the strut tower brace (shown in picture). Any questions please let me know, preference giving to local buyer, but I do have the box and packaging material from my Dinan brace so I can ship at buyer's cost. Any questions please let me know, & thanks for looking. dave |

All you need to install is a 13mm socket and an allen key, no other modifications required. I'm not sure if it will fit post-facelift cars, I only know for sure it will fit pre-facelifts. If anyone in Toronto is crazy enough to be driving their Z4 in this weather I'd be more than happy to let them try a test fit on a post-facelift or M Roadster / M Coupe.

To any other members, will this offer the same level of performance as would an OEM BMW strut brace? I know most other companies that offer STB's do very very little towards an actual performance increase, just wondering how this one would measure up?

Hi Graham,
I can't speak to differences between an OEM brace and this one as I've never owned an OEM one. I doubt that anyone will argue that the Z4 is all ready an unbelievably stiff car, how much improvement will a tower brace provide... I guess it depends on what the user is doing with the car. After installation the car did feel tighter and quicker to turn in on the few times I had it on the track, on the street a little bit improved when cornering. PM me if you are interested in purchasing and I can get a shipping quote for you. dave |
