From JB2 to JB+ (+4) Impressions
First off, many thanks to Andrei for helping me with the installation. When I say helping, I mean pretty much doing the whole thing, minus a few screws. I owe you a bottle of something good. I got to learn how to do it, but I'm not sure I still feel entirely comfortable doing this again by myself. Contrary to public opinion, JB+ is not easier to install than JB2 or JB3 if you still have your factory AirBox. You can't see what you are doing down there and you really have to feel your way through. It took about an hour to remove JB2 and install JB+. And it took a good part of two days to fully feel the changes (and for me to get used to it).
I set mine to around +4 (4pm) The first thing I noticed was the engine sound. It is clearly a lot more robust, grainier, deeper, and a bit louder, like a small v8. Even the feel was more like a small v8 than JB2's elastic turbo feel. The power delivery is smooth and predictable, unlike JB2 where you get lumps of boost at various stages of the rev band. While JB2 "felt" faster in some of those lumps, over-all JB+ is much faster and the engine feels less labored at all stages. I couldn't really let lose because of the rain over the weekend, but the few times I did, it felt really good. I also noticed about 3mpg increase in fuel consumption. Overall I'm very happy with the results, and highly recommend JB+ to anyone. But I am still planning on going for JB3 v1.3 in about four months when the testing is done, the reviews are in, and the prices hopefully have come down. |

I just installed mine this weekend and you're right, it is not a faster install if you have the factory airbox. I'll be switching to the injen intake when the price is right. I also have to get the bt scanner to run at the full setting (safe than sorry). When you say an increase in fuel consumption, do you mean that your burning more gas?
