Horn Location?

Does anyone know where the airhorns are located under the hood? I think I lost one of the airhorns and would like to see if its something simple like a loose wire. Thanks!

I'm not sure. You go stick your head under the hood, and I'll mash on the button for about 10 seconds!

The horns look like this, and if you look a the main wiring harness, they must connect on the passenger side down low beneath the headlamp assembly.

I was almost sideswiped today by an Expedition. The mama inside was so busy on her cell phone I bet she never heard my 'clown horn'.

So where can I get a more assertive horn that's hopefully a bolt-on replacement.

Just look for those Hella horns. I had the 118dB version on my Subaru and scared the crap out of man cell-phone talking, land-yacht drivers around here.

While this may not be the cheapest place to get them here is a starting point with what I had:

A good horn is worth its weight in gold.

In the late '60s I had a Mini Cooper 1275 S. It looked like a shoe box on a roller skate. People on back roads wouldn't get out of my way till I got a pair of Maserati air horns. BLEEEEEAAAATTTT!!!! You wouldn't have thought American mastodons of that vintage could move sideways so fast.

I have yet to feel the need with the 1er, but the first time I'm really balked, air horn, here I come.

I bought a pair of those Hella's to put on my 330xi, and when I went to install them, I realized how hard it was going to be to get to the existing horns. Lot of shrouds and covers and the existing horns were tucked away inside a u shaped bumper support.

Long story short, I put them on our Ford Ranger instead, and MAN are they loud. The european horn sound is kinda strange coming from a Ranger... but people react real quick!
