Sunroof delete. Any regrets?

Do i get more head room without sunroof? I'm 6.2. Also is it bad for the resale value? Thanks

You can't delete the sunroof in the US cars. You're stuck with it, so one less choice you have to worry about.

I cant speak from experience but I dont think there will be any more headroom, and yes it will hurt your resale value.

I thought about getting the sunroof delete but now that I have my car I'm glad that I didn't. Plus we get to enjoy the California sun whenever we drive.

I will assume you are among the vertically challenged or you would know that sunroofs are the bane of tall people.

I originally ordered with no sunroof but changed it a week after...I dont tend to keep cars often so resale is important.

I'm 6'2" and have no issues what so ever with the sunroof. In fact, I would say there is more room in the 1 than in many other cars I've owned and driven. There were older threads on this with fellows up to 6'7" able to fit in the 1 without issue - with the sunroof.

BMW needs a sunroof - unless you are going to use it for track and never going to sell it. It show hurt resale if you don't have one.

If this were an option in the USA, I would be happy to delete the sunroof and save money, add headroom, eliminate the chance of sunroof rattles and leaks, reduce weight, and increase chassis stiffness.

I never understood the idea of spending more money on vehicle options now with an eye to gaining the theoretical "price advantage" some years down the road. Using that logic, why not just buy a 5-series, then? It'll be worth more in three years than a 1-series. All else being equal, it's better to have more money now. If you spend less now, you'll have the advantage of having the use of that saved money for the next 3-4 years, and if you end up selling your car 4 years from now for less than you would've received if you'd had a sunroof, who cares?

(Obviously, it's different if you WANT a sunroof...)

I use it every day and wouldn't own another car without one. I had a WRX years ago and missed the sunroof very much.

I looked into buying a Canadian model just to eliminate the sunroof.
It was a lot cheaper to buy American. Our neighbors pay dearly for their cars.

yes, it's unfortunate that we can't order the 1'er in the USA without a sunroof. I did not have a sunroof in my 06 M3, while my previous car, an 02 M3, did have the sunroof. I am 6'4" and I really appreciated the extra 1.2" of headroom without the sunroof, it allowed me to position the seat the way that I wanted, the sunroof forces me to recline more. I did just fine on resale of my M3, no sunroof is actually a desirable and fairly unique configuration, I'm sure there are many of us who would prefer the 1 without it also.
