Just ordered a 135i and have some questions
Hi everyone,
I've been reading the posts here for quite a while and can't thank everyone enough for the information here. Well, I have finally ordered a 135i. (AW, coral red) Pretty excited as you can imagine but the wait... 3-4 months. How did some of you wait for so long? Anyway, there's about a million questions I want to ask but I thought I'd ask just a couple for now... 1. The first service - I don't think I want to wait 25K for the first oil change - did anyone change the oil/filter earlier (eg 3000km)? 2. What engine oil is used - I'd like some at home in case I need to top up. Thanks in advance for any advice. |

1. Yes many members have their own oil change routine...some every 3k, 5k, 7,500 and some are sticking with BMW's reccomended interval...Changing it early isn't going to hurt anything!!
2. I dont know the exact name but it's BMW synthetic 5W-30.... |

Congrats CJM on your purchase
I reckon you should change your oil every 5,000 Kms, the correct oil to use is Castrol SLX Professional BMW LL01, I bought a 20 litre drum from Repco for $260, they had to order it in. When you get your VIN from the dealer you can track your car around the world, there are many posts as to the website for this. Good luck with the wait its worth it trust me!! |

1. change the oil whenever you like! It may depend on your use of the car... 2. BMW oil is Castrol. You can buy 1lt cartons from BMW to top up. Take a look at this thread - http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=235328

Congrats on your order and nice colour combination!
3-4 months is pretty much the standard wait time. I ended up waiting around 5-6 months. It will feel alot longer than what it is and you'll probably be on here everyday like me haha. |

AW corel red.... what a good choice!!!
As the wait - you wait one month to get into production, if you order now you may get into April production or MAY, then it will finish at the end of month. Wait 10 days in the dock to get into ship and the ship in my case take over 1 month to get to Melbourne. Then take 2 weeks to get compliance plate and pre delivery detailing. I ordered Dec 27 last year and seeing it first week of May. Oil is Castrol and I will use Castrol 0W40 dispite the dealer said 5W30. Just need to warm up car before going hard.

Hi mate, congrats on the purchase!
I was almost going to get AW/CR combination as well, but finally decided on AW/Black. I ordered mine in Oct, and my boat should finally be arriving in Port Kembla today after a 6.5 week journey |

Congrats...You are going to love it. BMW has reduced the recommended first service down to 15,000K now instead of the 25,000K.
I have now done 3.5K and intend to do mine at 7,500K |

That's news to me too! Unless they update my car then it's always going to be 25k for the service. Oil was changed at 6,000KM's though.

I have changed my oil 4 times in the first 5500km, and now after Winton on Tuesday, it is ready for another oil change. |

Im planning to do an early oil change as well like others have done here.
But Im only changing th oil, not the filter. Does anyone here know if there is any problem by doing this? Its just that I dont want to go the full route as I think the oil filter should still be up for the task at least until 15000k. |

Can't see an big issue with not changing the filter every time. The only thing that springs to mind is that the there'll be some oil held in the filter and galleries leading to it that you won't be able to properly drain unless the filter is at least removed. So some old oil will remain.
Congratulations on the new order CJM!
