LATCH Attachment for a vert

Does anybody know where the hell the upper LATCH attachements on the vert are? The lower ones are clearly marked but for the life of me I cannot find the upper ones.

I tried looking too, there isn't an upper one on the vert, only on the coupe. Your kids will just have to live dangeroursly.

As said above, the vert's do not have upper latch attachments. Luckily my kids are a bit older and I'm only using a latch booster that works quite well.

Warmtoes, what's a latch booster? Right now I only have the bottom latch attached for their car seats.

does this mean that a small child car seat would not work in a vert?

I dont have any kids, but my wife likes the 135i vert because of a perception that it has a backseat that could be used for car seats...

You can have child car seats in the vert, in fact I have two, one for my four year old and one for my 2 year old. The issue is that in most car seats there is a LATCH system/tether that attaches the car seat to the car at two points. There are hooks in the car for you to attach the car seat. One attaches the bottom/base of the car seat to the car and another tether that attaches the top of the car seat, where the back of where the kid's head would be, to the car.

The vert has the bottom hook but does not have anywhere to attach the top tether. I dont think it is a safety issue.

It's this:

http://www.magnaclek.com/canada/english/default.aspx

It's made by Magna (car parts manufacturer) in Canada. You can get the most basic ones at Canadian tire and it is great for when your kid graduates out of a car seat but isn't big enough to have the shoulder belt in the right place (i.e. not around their neck).

It is a huge safety issue!! If the car seat manufacturer's manual says you have to use the top tether, you HAVE to use the top tether. There are some car seats that are designed for the top tether to be optional, but DON'T use one where it is required without the top tether!

Both my car seats have the option of using the car's actual seat belt instead of the LATCH so therefore the top tether is not a requirement. If this is not the case and top and bottom LATCH are required why would BMW make a car that had only the bottom. Doesn't make sense to me.

From what I understand about Latch it only refers to the bottom two anchors at the seat. The top tether is just that, a tether and some car seats (non-Latch) require them. If it is a Latch seat it only requires the anchors at the bottom.

WRONG... the top tether is part of the ISOFIX (latch) specification. Again, check the manual on your seat.

Also, the top tether pre-dates latch. there are lots of seats that will work with the saftey belt but STILL require the top tether.

LATCH = Lower Anchors and Tether for CHildren
