interesting little phenomenon

i dont have comfort access. sat in my car, before closing the door i held the key up to the key hole without inserting (sounds dirty) and pressed start. the car started. I put it in drive and off i went. no problems. I tried to duplicate this but was unable to. Has anyone else had this happen?

No but if you put the key in start the car, then shut down and take the key out, you can start the car back up with the key out.

Hit the start button again to turn the radio off. Or hold the start button down longer to turn the car off.

It's a neat little trick I think if you've got a long road trip ahead of you and don't want your keys dangling in the ignition the whole time....

this makes me wonder if there is a way to activate at least part of the confort access system. specifically, the portion that lets you start the car without having to stick the key in the ignition.

Its just a radio signal. My saab does the same thing... I can sit the key next to the hole, and turn the ignition with my finger in the slot, and it starts...

I can't get this to work. Not sure why I would want to but I feel defeated nonetheless

You must never open the door that will break the power cycle.
I drove around yesterday with no keys.
Also when you turn off the engine the radio stays on even after you open the door. You must press start again twice to shut it off or wait 10 min for it to power off
