Valve on stock mufflers

What would happen if I blew a single 3" hole in the rear or bottom of the stock mufflers and welded a remote controlled valve on there (Might have to use a bit of pipe for clearance). I just want a little more noise sometimes - not looking for HP. I know there is packing material, and maybe chambers in there, but I've never seen a cross-section of one. It would be handy to have a cross-section of one to determine the ideal place to put the hole I guess - anyone have a pic of that by chance?

Could I harm anything doing this?

Anyone have a stock muffler for sale (ideally not chopped) so I dont have to cut up mine?

I was thinking of going with the $4000 KKS but for $300 in parts and a little welding, maybe I could just do it myself and get what I want - stock most of the time, and a little noise some of of the time. Even if I got the car 10-20% louder, I'd be happy.

Honestly, try removing the insulation in your trunk. Under covers there are a lot of material that absorbs sound. Also pull down your rear seats. This should make the exhaust sound more audible on the inside.

True.
I was driving Unique's M3 for about a week.. Stripped interior, I fell in love with the stock exhaust.
