Highest mileage on a 135?

I know this car has only been out since late 2007 in the US... but I want to know if there are any 135i owners that are past the 50k warranty mark yet? It would really help us as to the long term reliability of this car.

I would really like feedback from high-mileage owners who have a tune of some sort (JB3/Procede/Dinan).

Based on everything I've researched, BMWs are reliable, as long as you take care of them. Problem is a lot of them are leased, and the leasees have no reason to take care of them bc they're not keeping them for the long term....

VW/Audi is supposedly getting better, but I would definitely steer clear of anything they made from about '98-'06.

I'd be socked if anyone had that kinda mileage on any E82 or E88. 75K in a YEAR?!?!? I wouldn't expect any more than 30K, even that kind of use is unlikely for this car.

I put on about 45k miles a yr on most my cars.
I imagine if i used it for work then 75k wouldn't be far off + it has been out 1.yrs already

New BMW are very reliable cars, if it is your concern for long time keeping. Car gives you a feel of solid rock and it is.

No firsthand experience, but anectdotal advice from friends, forumers and some mechanics leads me to believe that the cars can last forever but things can and will go wrong and you will pay more $$$ to repair it outside the warranty than on your neighbour's Accord. Electronics, computers, supposedly are problem-prone and expensive to fix...like the people who bought Comfort Access, I hear the auto dimming mirrors create lots of problems. If you didn't splurge on unnecessary luxury items like this you will probably spend less $$$ in repairs. Even if the mirror didn't break if someone ran into you the auto-dimming mirror would cost more to replace! Things like this should be taken into consideration when buying options! One thing that made me think though was that my Uncle mentioned it cost him more to replace the brake pads on his Mazda 3 than his E46 325i. I don't think either was cheap, just in this case the Mazda was $$$!

I hear the E36 and E46 were notorious for bushings and other suspension type replacement issues.

Also BMW engines and drivetrains sound like they will long outlast the luxury options just make sure you use the exact right oil and other fluids otherwise you'll blow a piston or a rod even faster than you would on a normal car (known issue on the E46, look it up). People on the E9x forums with 335i's seem to have lots of little things replaced once they get up in the 50k mileage though...

Electronics is much more reliable than mechanics. How many problems do you have with your computer, TV, DVD palyer? Many people never encountered even a single problem.

Which is why I am not much of a fan of a lot of those options (iDrive in particular). I wouldn't have gotten power seats if my wife hadn't insisted....

At 4500 miles I had the mirror on my driver's side crack for no reason whatsoever. It was auto dim and it leaked a yellow fluid...very odd. Replaced under warrenty. At 6000 miles I had an obnoxious rattle. Turned out to be a loose screw holding the instrument cluster in place. Fixed under warrenty. And at 11500 miles as of last week. My top broke. It has been in the service department for the last 7 days...with no word. Both I and my dad are bitching about it right now.

But my top is my fault. It has gone up and down 4 times a day for the past 9 months. By my rough math that means it has been up and down well over 1000 times. Much more abuse than the average top takes. So I knew it would go early. But I expected early to be a year out from now.

It sucks, I have this really uncomfortible X3 that I have put 2K miles on already...sigh.

Sorry about the small rant...but at least those miles arent on my 1er...but they are in for a surprise when I return it. I got it with 36 miles on it.

There's really no truth to that statement. It's a case by case basis. Millions of people have problems with computers, DVD players, video game consoles (I've personally had both an XBox 360 and PS3 die on me), and tons of other consumer electronics.

Power seats fail all the time. When was the last time you saw a manual seat that didn't work properly?

I got a 328i 6AT loaner today while my 135i is at the dealer for squeaky brakes and a driver side window that's getting scratched up for no reason. I'll have it back by Wednesday, so the dealer says. I beat the shiznits out of that thing, and it makes me miss my 1er that much more! A 135i with JB3 spoiled me rotten. I must admit though, with extended time driving the 6AT, I sorta like it. Shifts are nice and quick, it holds the gear you ask for and DS mode is actually very aggressive. Multi-gear downshifts are a little slow though.
