suggestion please: i just want a setup a little louder than stock
hi. i'd like to bring out the v8 sound a little more than stock.
i DD my car, so i don't want it to be annoyingly loud. should i just get a sport exhaust axle-back only or mid-pipes with stock mufflers? i've never heard any in person and based on just sound clips, i really can't tell plus most people seem to have the full setup which may be too loud for me. thanks

Just get x-pipes with hi flow cats like the EI system. Gives you more growl but not much louder than stock, passes emissions, no check engine light, relatively cheap and BEST of all more HP/TQ!

AA exhaust did the trick for me... a bit more growl but not obnoxious and I DD in traffic in LA all the time, teh exhaust does not bother me one bit.

That's what I recommend, AA is middle of the road in terms of sound output and aggressiveness. Definitely a good setup for a street car that sees regular use but needs a bit more growl.

AA is on the fence for most people, its a great system but CAN be loud. I would suggest the REMUS Sport System if you just want to bring out the growl a bit more with out being annoying for a DD.

Eisenmann sport. It transforms the car!

Milltek is pretty close to stock but a bit louder.
Someone has it on sale too, $900.00 bucks on the forum, last I checked. It does have some small rust spots on the outside though. |

The used Milltek was purchased by me, so it's no longer for sale! I've already put it on my car, and it's PERFECT. It gives just enough sound to entertain but keeps it very mellow for daily driving. My M3 is not my only mode of transportation, but I do drive it everyday if it's not bad weather. I didn't want it LOUD, and I definitely didn't want any drone when cruising down the road. I would recommend the Milltek to anyone wanting more sound without worrying about drone and being too aggressive.
