ESS DCT software

I wanted to let DCT owners know that ESS will soon be releasing DCT software for the E9X M3 along with our performance software. This software will allow DCT owners to raise the rev limiter, add custom launch control and remove lag and other issues often associated with the current and former versions of DCT software. This software will also improve the shift speed of the system while still retaining the smooth performance and adjustable levels.

Look for more information and pricing after Bimmerfest. If you plan on attending Bimmerfest stop by our booth for more info.

Is this strictly a DCT upgrade, with no other performance enhancements? If there are performance enhancements, what kinds of gains?

TIA

Wow that is really great news. Remove the lag is all you really have to do to make this a winner.

The DCT software will be seperate from our engine performance software. We will offer them together as a package. Info on both will be released soon.

Good to hear, maybe BMW can learn a thing or two from them.

Will you offer the ability for customers to install software themselves (e.g. via home install kit with OBDII cables)?

The DCT interface cable is not a cable that will be available to customers. Accessing the DCT software in this car is very difficult. The DME interface might be an option later on down the road but at this time and in the near future all tuners flashing the DME in this car will need your DME or your vehicle to upload software.

can this new software update be detected by the dealer ? would it cause any issues with the warranty ? also, if BMW going to release new update for DCT will it erase ESS software ?

So if im on the east coast i can still get this upgrade done right? Also is it reversible?

I think we all have those concerns...

Hoping for a positive response and good pricing! woo hoo!

I can hardly wait for somebody to try this out and let us know how it works. I am getting SICK of the fricken low speed lag bullshit!

I totally agree, can't imagine why you would want to remove or raise the rev limiter???

DCT changes cannot be detected by the dealer. If the dealer does flash it then it would be the same as performance software it would need to be re-flashed. Your best bet is to tell your dealer not to flash you car if updates do become available and they offer to do them.

Since the lag has been discussed nearly to death we all really want to know some more about it. If you guys can fix it (or have fixed it) you should be able to tell us:

1. What really caused the lag? Some just think gear indecision or clutch delay. Other think a next gear selection bias toward higher gears. My thoughts are that it is actually a throttle cut/delay of some sort based on inputs from the DCT.

2. Does the DCT have any long term, driver based adaptation.

how certain are you that all those problems with DCT will disappear after your soft was uploaded ? As I understand the problems with DCT are not the same on every car. What if it will be acting the same way after your soft update, will you refund the money ?

Thanks.
