2006 325i vs. 2009 135i

I am deciding between a fully loaded 2006 325i (around 4k under kbb value) or a 135i with sports package (39k). any opinions?

Well thats an easy one, 135i...why would you want a 4 year old car with little power over a 135i with tones of power and new car warrenty?

because 135i is a little out my price range since i'm 19. I have to work VERY hard to afford that whereas i can get the 325 and when i have more money upgrade. Believe me, i'm already sold on 135i after test driving that rocket. Is it worth it for me to work that much harder to be able to afford the 135i?

I have both, the drive is waaayyyyy different. 135i is better in my opinion (drive-wise), 325i is probably only better if you want more seating room and gas mpg.

i know if i get the 135i, there will be no regrets but will i regret getting 325? although the price for what it has is a freaking steal because my dad's best friend is selling it to me

For price stand, inssurance for 325 will be much lesser.

I speak from experience. I had the 2006 325 and now have the 135.

Just way too many reasons to go with the 135, it is just infinitely better. 135 all the way. You will get VERY frustrated with the 325.

If you have to work that hard for the car (don't forget insurance) then it would be foolish to get a 135.

If you want a better car though, the 135 is it.

You are 19 and don't have a lot of money. Ok, then the warranty becomes a HUGE deal to you. The point that you never have to pay a dime for anything except tires for 4y/50K to start, and then you can upgrade that.

PLUS, you get 1.9% financing going new. You don't get that going used.

Used & slow 325 with repair costs and higher payments, and then throw in the annoyance. I think your answer is clear.

Do a 135 coupe, do just the Sports Package and IPod, and you are all set. It already comes with 18" wheels and the adaptive Xenon headlights, plus all the numerous standard goodies. More goodies than the old and slow 325.

And why can't you get a 128? Tower power will be a little bit more than the 325 (because it is newer, 15hp/torque more, and slightly smaller/lighter). It won't be much, but slight. And more importantly, you'll have the handling of the 1er. I know the 128i is no where near as amazing as the beast 135i, but its still a decent variation of the 1er.

Unfortunately, the type of friends who want you to drive since you will have the nice four door car, and then they are all drunk and rowdy while YOU are driving, all good for the cops to notice you.

Yea, I have done that route before, no thank you. In the 1, you can claim "Sorry, I can't drive, no room in my car", and then you can drink and keep your car cleaner and safer.

If you can't afford it walk away. You obviously want it, but if you don't have the money don't try to rationalize a 325i as a comparable alternative. Save your money and get something way less expensive.
