Normal Idle?
I've recently notice that the car started to idle higher then normal at normal temps. It sits around 7-800 rpm...is that normal? Car seems to have more vibration lately, I only have 700 miles.
Yes, I did install an exhaust, but I didn't notice it before unitil yesterday.

That sounds normal to me. At 700 miles the engine is still breaking in and the ECU is probably just adapting to it. My car did some strange things on startup for the first couple of thousand miles.
I wouldn't worry about it. |

Thanks..I'll give it some more time. It's just odd that it just started.

There's a lot of stuff going on the first few thousand miles. The O2 sensors are burning in, the rings are seating, manufacturing coatings are wearing off, ect. The ECU is taking the default maps and trimming everything out, so that's probably why you're seeing the change. It wouldn't surprise me if some of the parameter changes being made early on don't take effect until the car has gone through a few heat cycles also. There are also some OBD diagnostics that are performed on a periodic basis that might be kicking in and causing some variations. The car has to test the evaporative emissions systems from time to time, as well as converter efficiencies. It might even be the ECU doing the oil level check. It's based on a change in oil temperature (I was a little shocked when I read that) so the ECU must be capable of raising and lowering the operating temp at will. Lots of stuff going on behind the scenes on modern cars! |

Would the AC still be running in the background? This is my first Bmw..I know with my past cars, once you turn all function off even with the AC button pressed all should turn off.
