Use Meineke to remove secondary cats?

Maybe a stupid question but how hard could it be to cut out the cats and weld in a pipe? Since Meineke supposedly does custom exhaust, I would think doing this would be a snap! Opinions?

TIA,
BC

The job isn't hard but they might not do it because its "illegal". It took me a few tries to find a shop that would do it.

Yep as Knext21 said you need a shop that doesn't care. Most probably won't some will

So is the name just misleading? Are they not actually "secondary" cats? On my 550i the exposed canisters on the pipes are just resonators but the actual, legally required cats are closer to the headers.

It is illegal to remove any functioning OBDII required item, like a catalytic converter, whether it be primary or secondary. That being said, find a performance shop who does custom exhausts, and have them do it!
