Thumbs down Mackin Industries

So I pre-ordered a set of TE37 G2 in 19" for the 335xi back in late December. It was changed to M3 application in early January. The vendor that I ordered from is a large JDM dealer on the East Coast and they have been great with communications and stuff. Originally, the wheels were supposed to come in March. Of course March comes and goes and then I got a call from the vendor telling me that Mackin ran into some issues and the wheels will be here early April.

When April came, I got the same call from the vendor telling me that Mackin said that they had to delay their shipment again and my wheels will definitely be here in the container scheduled to arrive early May.

With almost half of the month past, I still have not gotten words that when my wheels would be here. I have sent another email to the vendor today to get my 50% deposit back on the wheels and put that money to better use.

VOLK Racing wheels are great, light and very strong, but if they aren't in stock in the US, don't trust your life to Mackin that the wheels will be delivered in a timely fashion.

All the custom forged rims companies have the same issue.

Why not order directly from Rays? I think someone has done that.

For one thing, container shipping is in the crapper right now. I wouldn't be surprised if that is part of the holdup. Many less ships running right now may = longer wait times.

They're kinda known for such delays, unfortunatly.
It's probably also because it's a new wheel.

I did Express Mail (EMS) for my NEEZ as well, but decided to do it domestically for the TE37 G2 because it's a new wheel. I'm still running around with my stock 220M and Blizzak LM25 at the moment. I won't see the TEs until the end of the month (if I'm lucky).

Try SoniMS in the Bay area. They just became designated shop in Norcal for Volks and Advans. Also you can try vividracing in Arizona.

kev,

That sucks man! Yea i had to wait for my Progressive spokes back in the day for half a year too. I feel ya. If you need someone who's gonna hound Mackin for ya in Cali, let me know. Vipstatus in torrance helped me alot in the past. Mackin and vipstatus are both in cali soooo they can hound them more than other shops in the east coast.

Maybe the container ship took a wrong turn in Albequerque (a la Bugs Bunny) and ended up near Somalia...dude, you may need to get some ransom money together.

J/K, hope they come fast.

When things go this bad there is prob more bad to follow.

Get some new rims, in stock, and enjoy.

Sorry, I just think given all the delays, you are not getting the whole truth.

Volk/Mackin have been this way as far back as I can remember. If the wheel isn't in stock, it takes 3-6 months to get the wheel made and shipped. Volk, is my favorite wheel, but I refuse to sit in anticipation for 6 months. So my advice, is if you don't have the patience for a 6 month delivery time, chose a wheel that's already in someone's inventory, or chose another wheel. It's a shame, because Volk builds extremely high quality wheels, for considerably lower prices than the competition.

It's not the ships, it's still sailing, with their normal times.
So don't blame it on that. Only thing in the crapper is the rates,
it's extremely low right to cover the cost of operations.
Which does not effect the movement over the water. If anything,
these vendors should be saving mucho money on shipping.

Personally, I think Mackin don't give a rats ass. I'm basing on their crappy
website.

Not to defend Mackin Industries here, but Mackin Industries does care about customer service. I have gone through this myself, so I wanted to tell Kev what happened to me a while back.

The delivery time on a special order set of VOLK wheels can vary drastically. I'm not making excuses for anyone involved, but you have to understand that sometimes the bad guy is not always so easily identified.

Let me explain why...

I had to wait for almost 9 months to get a set of LE-37T's about four years ago. (polished lip 19's) They were phasing this model out at the time. I had been told in the beginning (by the dealer) that it would take no longer than 120 days (4 months) tops. That's from the time the order was submitted, to the time the wheels would arrive at my front door. That sounded reasonable to me, so I agreed to those terms.

Well...that turned out to be complete BS on my dealers part.

The truth was...VOLK had told him it was on indefinite backorder from day one. Did he happen to relay that information back to me? Hell no...

That's because he probably assumed that I would ask for a refund. (which is probably true)

So for three months, I was under the false impression that my wheels were already built, and they were about to be placed into a shipping container bound for the U.S.

Man was I wrong...

My dealer told me that VOLK was very busy, and my wheels would be built soon. That was another lie...

Two more months pass and I am royally pissed that my wheels are no where in sight. I ask again, and get the run around one more time. At this point, I've had it and ask for my money back. The guy refuses and tells me there are no refunds on special ordered wheels. (regardless of the circumstances)

I realize that arguing back-and-forth with him will solve nothing, and I contacted Mackin Industries directly.

After speaking with one of the employees there, I realize that VOLK was not even scheduled to build another run of LE-37T wheels at the time I placed my order. The dealer was lying to me from the start.

I now double-check every little detail for that very reason. An individual dealer can tell you anything. If possible, go to the source and find out if what you are being told is even true. You may be surprised to find out that things are not always as they appear. (my 2 cents)

Just food for thought Kev...

unfortunately, this is the reality. The global economy is in the dumps, and fewer orders + companies inventories are lean. Before a manufacturer ships products out, the containers must be completely full to make it worth the shipping expenses.
