Rarest color

Hello,

Any thoughts on the rarest color? We are thinking of cashmere silver metallic, bluewater metallic, and Lemans Blue. My wife really liked the blue 1 series that was at the last NY/NJ meet (I dont think it was lemans, was it?), and so we are looking at blues, though they are tougher to keep looking like new (IMO, maybe wrong).

We liked the cashmere, and don't see it on the road (on the road, we see white, black and red exclusively), but EVERY dealer we have been to has a cashmere silver 1 series vert with a black top. They have to be somewhere.

So, thoughts on the rarest colors? Obviously lemans blue will have some rarity given that it can only be had with the M-sport, but it seems that most 135 cars at the dealers now have the m-sport... at least as test driver cars.

That's pretty easy - Tahiti Green is probably the rarest 'standard' 1 color.
Of course Sparkling Graphite Metallic was discontinued once the quota of superhuman owners was reached.

ok... what about of the current colors? Neither of those are available new... Is there some sort of data set that breaks down options/colors sold?

I guess I should clarify that I want a new 135i M-sport, and Id like to get a color that I will not usually see (not that I see many that arent white or black anyway).

rare isnt the right word... but there is a distribution. They dont make an equal number in each color, most likely.

AW is obviously VERY well represented on here, and in general. Somewhere there is data. Speculation is all we will likely have here, but it is better than my experience alone...

How anal are you about keep your interior clean?

If you want something unique and you're up to it try Blue Water with Lemon.

If you want something really, really unique and you don't mind if the dealer asks you to put 100% deposit down try Tahiti green with Coral red leather.

IMO - La Manz blue is probably one of the more popular colors now that it's offered.

There's a reason why some colors are rarer than others - only a few people want them. In that case, don't count on a rare color to boost your resale price - it will probably do the opposite.

Tahiti green is not a US "standard" color right now. But, if you pay BMW enough of a premium, maybe you can custom order it.

You're right. The Aussie's get it but we're denied it here in the US.

I apologize for the misinformation and getting your hopes up for a TG with CR combination.

Oh well, maybe NA plans to add it for the upcoming model year if you can wait that long. 2010 info should be available the end of July.

In the states, the euro colors will be rare. Tahiti green exterior, terra interior, etc. There are a few posts here on the subject:

Terra and Lemon interiors are available in the USA, but must be special ordered.

I don't believe any exterior colors other than the ones currently viewable on the BMWUSA.com webpage are available in the USA. There was talk on the Bimmerfest site about other exterior colors being available for an extra price, but only if a European Delivery was being done. And that was only talked about with regard to other models, not the 1er, so don't know if it applies here.

I suspect LeMans Blue will be relatively rare for the time being, though who knows after the ZMP sport package has been available for a while.

My wife really likes lemans blue... I do too, though i fear it will show scratches easier, as well as dirt.

My query has nothing to do with resale value, it is just to avoid seeing my car on the road, if at all possible...

With 10-12k 1 cars imported, that shouldnt be terribly hard...

Blue water is a great color, especially with Lemon. Actually Monaco + Lemon is awesome, too.

JHZR2,

Not sure where in Jerz u're located, but I have the Lemans if you want to see it in person. I would think that is the rarest color for the moment.
I have yet to see another with one.

Mike..

Have no fear.

Don't know about your location, but I've seen only two 1'ers on the road since taking delivery of mine in early March. I see many more exotics on the road than 1ers.

Well sorry for the international POV - i dont know about US dealers, but my local dealer told me, that it is indeed possible to order "unavailable" colors for an 1er vert. You should be aware though, that you will have to pay extra charge (like 2-3 times the amount of the "available" metallics) and that you might have to wait a few weeks more for delivery. Would be interesting if your US dealers would give you the same reply. Think 3er individual colors, hmmmm

Let's be clear - Tahiti Green is a color that BMW offers the 1 series in (not in the US, but elsewhere).
Laguna Seca is not offered to anyone anywhere on a 1 series. I wish it had been, but I believe that color is retired. Someone suggested that you could get BMW to put it on a 1 for an extra $10k or more, but obviously that's just hypothetical since you could probably get other people to thoroughly repaint a 1 any color you want for less than that.
