Resetting trip computer
Does anyone know how to do this on an 09 with iDrive? I can't find it in the iDrive, and the little button on the tacho doesn't seem to do anything!

I go to settings and select journey computer and there is a reset option in that screen. I have saved the screen to one of the idrive buttons so I easily reset it. Its log book time again for me!

I haven't used the one on the speedo. I have my screen split with the journey computer on the right and NAV or Audio on the left. The computer seems to be independent of the NAV. It just tells me the distance, time and average speed since the last reset. I must read of the book to see if I am doing it the right way.

Is this on an 09 Zuzu? Even after reading the manual, I can't find out how to do it with the iDrive. I will check the blinker lever way tomorrow.

So funny. I spent a while trying to figure this out also. To reset the trip odo there is a little pin sticking out of the bottom left part of the gauge cluster. Just push the button in and it'll reset to zero.
So simple, and I was sure I could do it with iDrive, but no, it's just an old-school push pin.

What can I say. It amazing what the camera will pick up inside a dark shed so it needs a bit of a dusting on the inside, but the outside is spectacular.
Would you believe, it's never even been in the rain yet. The only water it's ever seen is washing it and the creek crossing on the Southern Highlands drive. |

No. It's not at all related to iDrive. Look behind the steering wheel where your speedometer and tachometer are. On the bottom left of that cluster.

BBK...I think all are confused with what you are trying to achieve..
Is it the actual trip counter NOT computer as "Ruffin" seem to think. Or is the actual total trip/computer settings as shown in the IDrive as Oldman has suggested. |

Well now I'm totally confused. The display between the tacho and speedo alternates each time you press the BC button. On one of displays shows the total milage the car has done on the left, then the trip reading on the right.
My trip milage (on the right) shows 847.6km wish is the same as the iDrive trip counter (see picture above), so if you have iDrive, the display between the instruments is the display matches the instrument display (well at this point anyway). What's interesting though, is resetting the iDrive trip computer does not reset the instrument trip computer. To do that, I have to have the instrument trip computer displayed, then press the small button in just at the bottom left of the speedo, then it resets that one as well. Have not tested if both act as independent trip computers. |

It appears if you have the 09 idrive you 2 options to track trip information. The standard trip computer on the speedo and the journey computer. It seems they are much the same but I like the Journey computer because it stays on the screen next to my maps

Sorry to confuse all! I mean the reading on the tacho/speedo, NOT the iDrive. I prefer to look at the tacho info because it is always there.
I have tried pressing the button just like Ruffan said, but it didn't do anything... Will check on my way out of work now. |

The button on my car only worked if the instrument display was at the correct mode. ie it showed total milage on the left and trip milage next to it on the right. The car was running by the way, then the trip display zero'd out once I pressed the button on the bottom of the speedo dial.

Thanks oldman, I finally checked it out and yes the button does work. I think maybe as oldman said, it didn't work when it was in the incorrect mode... All is good! Thanks to everyone :-)

Hi All,
I have an earlier (May 08) 135I with I-drive with the motorised flip-up screen, not permanently in place like the photo above. I also have Professional Nav. I notice above that cargeek says that he has split his screen for Nav and Audio on the screen at the same time. Is my system capable of doing this... and if so, how do I do it? Thanks in advance!! -- Lurker Last edited by lurker; 05-26-2009 at 01:26 AM.. |
