Purple Burn Question

Can an aftermarket exhaust be "purple burned?"

Lets say for instance the Eisenmann Race Exhaust. Would this be a good or bad idea?

He wants to know if you can torch a steel exhaust tip to turn it purple/blue like a titanium tip. The answer is no.

SS will turn colors when it gets hot enough, but if it's chrome I don't think it's possible...

Catch, You can do it but like the members of that forum have discovered it causes oxidation that leads to rust. Unless it's a Ti tip I don't think it's a good idea.
