Dyno (AAECU-AAPLLY-AAFilter) - Before & After [Something Wrong??]

I'm not sure what's wrong here but something screwed up here.

I've attached my dyno from before & after.

Yeah that dont seem right - not much of a gain. I have the same set up as you (other than having an e90) now I am curious - have never done a dyno on my car though.

Looks like you gained 9HP & 4 ft-lb. What's the problem with that?

I would have thought the AA tune, pulley and filter would have been good for more of gain than that? Only 4 ft lbs of tq? What do I know I guess.

Looks like there are certain areas under the curve in the 20s??? But still... I would expect more also... im going in the same direction with the AA flash but having the Rogue pulley installed.... i would hope it would be closer to 25-30. Maybe this is what is the norm with these mods.

Actually I was expecting a little more then that

Here is what AA's site says:

AA Pulley System - 12 HP - 7 Ft Lbs of Torque
http://www.activeautowerke.com/viewp...x?id=Product77

AA ECU - 15 HP (Rear wheel HP)
AA ECU - 11 Ft/Lbs (Rear wheel Tq)
http://www.activeautowerke.com/viewp...x?id=Product85

AA Filter - 7 HP & 5HP Lbs of Torque
http://www.activeautowerke.com/viewp...x?id=Product87

I'm thinking since they don't state that the filter & the pulley's are not rear wheel HP
so lets say in rear wheel HP we have 17.6 RWHP from the Pulley and the Filter. We should have:

32.6 RWHP Increase

There has to be something wrong.

Power increases from modifications are not cumulative, so you can't add up AA's power increase claims and expect to get that number. I have been diappointed by dynos too many times to count....what matters most is how the car feels to you. If the car feels quicker and it's running reliably...you win, plain and simple .

I have always heard the net result of these mods combined are not cumulative. In other words they are less than the sum of the parts. You have no way of knowing exactly how AA got these Dyno results with each mod. I would expect they are a bit inflated to start with. Look at the gains that Dinan is claming. Much more reasonable and probably more accurate too. Don't take this as AA bashing though because I will likely buy their exhaust, pulley, etc. later.

I dyno'd my car at AA after installing their ECU and filter...along with no cats (not their system...custom with stock muffler out back) and only dyno'd 330

I asked them if that was a bit low and I was told it was because I still have the stock muffler out back...?

doesnt make any sense to have such a low number but w/e the car feels quicker

Max power in the stock dyno is not correct. Notice that the graph jumps abruptly. This is not correct and you should disregard this part. If you do that, you will see that you have gained more than 9 hp.

You have a STOCK exhaust with cats cut out. Its like blowing through a straw and still having restriction at the end, it cancels everything out.

You are correct, mods are not cumulative for the most part.

We show the gains separately, when customers ask they are told you cannot add the numbers from each mod. Some mods, IE pulley & Xpipe increase the area under the curve. If you guys have any questions regarding dyno results, etc please feel free to ask me. I think it would be good to clear this up.

Were conditions different?

Are both graphs SAE corrected?

Different fuel?

If they were done back to back, was there time for adaptation?

Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by some of the top engineers in the world because some guys sponsored by a company told you it's "better??" But when you ask the same guy about tracking, "oh no, I have a kid now" or "I just detailed my car." or "i just got new tires."

Guys, this is all moot. The stock dyno is flawed. There is about a 10hp spike at the end. This is not normal. This makes the results much more in line.

The true peak power for the stock run looks like around 340hp. 349 is a dyno spike when the car hit the rev-limiter.

Yeah, that spike could also be caused by excessive vibration through the dyno rollers...bad bearings perhaps.
