another hpfp pumps its last
This morning my fuel pump threw in the towel. Before this I had the dreaded long starts for the past month. This morning the car had another long crank but stuttered to actually start and had a very rough idle. I dropped it off today and should be picking it up this evening with a new pump and I asked my advisor if they used the newer version vs the rebuilt one and he said yes they put in a new version. I currently have 19192 miles on my car as of today. I took delivery in june of last summer. Fingers crossed for good luck in the future.

Mine lasted 5000 miles. I was a June 2008 build and it went in November. Have 8000 miles on since this new pump was installed and no problems. It was the new version.

I think mine is on it's way out as well. Did your dealer give any excuses as "we could not replicate the problem"? I'm just curious to know what steps you took to have them replace it since the car was still drivable.

Check your states "lemon law", it varies state to state.
But, most states have a 3 times and it's a lemon rule. Meaning, if the SAME repair does not fix the problem then the customer can request that the car be deemed a "lemon". You can then get a NEW 135i! However, it has to be the SAME problem and SAME repair. As I said, some states have other stipulations, along with how value is assessed. The manufacturer/dealer MUST comply. Also, the manufacturer must be given opportunity to fix the repair, which is stated by your states number or repair limits. Those of you that are on your 2nd or 3rd repair or are getting it, may want to remind your dealer that you will request lemon status if the problem is not resolved, just so they know your intentions, and that you know the law. Good luck. |

I know in NY the car has to be at or under 18,000 miles for it to be considered a lemon. My car is at the dealership now for the 2nd time with the same problem. If it happens a third time i will be declaring it a lemon.
