P40's - lite enough?

Hi all,

I've been looking at upgrading my wheels and of course the P40's top the short list. However, the weight doesn't seem an improvement over my stock 19's. The P40's weigh 22lbs (front) & 25 lbs (rear) - 9" & 10.5" respectively. Am I wrong?

If so, then the only motivation would be a cosmetic one right?

it's all cosmetic and you pay a hefty price for it.

There are lighter wheels out there that look just as good. Also there are wheels out there that actually have a racing pedigree.

This should be in the Wheels & Tires section, but I really like the P40. They are like a classic that will retain its value. If you were to save a set of P40's for your next generation M3, it would still be hot.

Another option are the RAC's being developed. It seems much lighter. The only issue I have with it is it seems a bit to be more at home w/ an E46 M3 IMO but still a looker nevertheless.

I had TE37's on my S2000. They looked awesome and were guarantee head turners, but for some reason even though they were lighter than my OEM 17's, it was harder for the car to burn out from first gear and chirp in second.

I paid US$112k (including import taxes) for my M3...and that was a used one with low miles from the US!

I just checked the HRE carbon series - US$10,650...that's a lot of dough for a set of wheels. That would bring the total cost of my car to US$122K!!!

How much do these new HRE carbon series weigh? Matt black carbon monoblock would look killer on my Space gray E-90. These look like $$$$$$. I'm still debating on The Advans or P40 both are awsome wheels but the Advans cost less I'm still undecided.

That's what I'm wondering. I'm sure they weigh a tad bit more than the Dymags since they are using forged aluminum over the magnesium. I think they would look sick on any color. I like the matte and the charcoal color options. BTW- I don’t think they are considered mono block.

Meh, they look okay. I loved these when they unveiled the design to the public, but after seeing them again Im not so impressed.

Im sure they'll do well for HRE though. They usually put out a good product
