[i meant for the title to mean 1 series and not just 135]
http://www.bmwblog.com/2009/07/11/bm...-airbag-issue/ Don't know if this has been posted - I checked in the maintenance section and saw nothing. INCORRECT CRIMP CONNECTORS MAY HAVE BEEN USED ON THE SIDE AIR BAG AND BELT TENSIONER WIRING. AS A RESULT SUFFICIENT CONTACT BETWEEN THE CRIMP CONNECTORS AND THE CORRESPONDING PLUG MAY NOT OCCUR WHICH COULD LEAD TO AN INCREASE IN THE ELECTRICAL RESISTANCE OF THAT CONNECTION. That would make too much sense. I love how the letter states that they are dedicated to the "highest level of automotive excellence" yet according to one poster here they are telling dealerships to stop replacing pumps until they actually die.

Hmmm... I have not received that letter. When did you get your letter crzy4135i? I see a date of December 2008 on your letter but I know for sure that I never received a letter then.

That is understandable but I would still like him to post when he received the letter so those that are affected can know when they will or should have received one from BMW.

Sorry, I don't remember. I received it awhile ago and threw the envelope away.. and only saved the letter in my filing cabinet. By the way, I also received the fuel pump letter.

It appears seat sensors have been a problem on other models..
" Statement on voluntary recall involving front passenger seat sensor mat on U.S.A. model BMWs - August 13, 2008 Today, BMW announced a voluntary recall regarding the front passenger air bag seat sensor mat involving approximately 200,000 Model Year 2004-06 vehicles. Affected are certain Model Year 2006 3-Series, Model Year 2004-06 5-Series, and Model Year 2004-06 X3 vehicles, depending upon seat type. BMW has found that the sensor mat may become damaged during vehicle usage depending upon the manner and frequency of the front passenger's entry and exit. BMW will begin sending customer letters in late September 2008. Affected owners may continue to drive their vehicles; however, customers should contact their BMW Center if the air bag warning lamp, and the passenger air bag ''on-off'' lamp are illuminated simultaneously. In this situation, BMW recommends customers not to use the front passenger seat and have the vehicle serviced immediately. At the present time, we are unaware of any accidents or injuries as a result of this issue. http://www.bmwusa.com/Standard/Conte...s/Default.aspx"

Hah, my car was [one of] the first with this issue. On June 8th my airbag and seat tensioner light went off. I took it to a dealership near where I was travelling and they diagnosed the issue but said it'd take them 2-4 days to get the correct parts. I said screw that since I was in the middle of a month long road trip and didn't want to stay on the East Coast any longer. So I put another 7500 miles on my car and had a fantastic vacation, thankfully crash-free despite my hooning through the Rockies.
