Saturday was a sad day for my 135i
My car was hit twice, at different times on saturday night.
#1) I always park my car in front of my cafe`. its a good spot on a quiet street, next to a big, door dinging, parking lot. My car is usually there from 10:30am until 1am when I leave. Its right in front of the window, so I can monitor activity all day and night. It was extremely busy on Saturday night. When I went out for a smoke, there was a white volkswagen beetle(new style) 1 inch away from my bumper. I went to investigate with my cell phone flashlight, to find a chip on the air-dam, scuffs, and an indentation from the license plate frame. She tried to parallel park her car into a spot that was too small. there was already a car in the spot, but it was parked far up on the front line. She tried to fit 2 cars into 1 parking space. I waited all night for her to come back, and called the poice for a report. Finally i saw the lights come on from the car from unlocking. I run outside to get her. By this point, it was a big spectacle at the restaurant. I know most of my customers, and they know my car....as well as the whole ordering and waiting process. Everyone was excited to see what was going to happen whe the owner returned. It was a nasty old lady...born in 1942 on license. she denied the whole thing, then threatend to have me arrested for harrassment. She was trying to leave, but I told her the police were on the way, and not to leave the scene of an accident. Long story short, got insurance info, police report....itll be taken care of. it just sucks its on a brand new car. #2)After work, about 1:15am, i took my girlfriend for a drink and some dancing at some swanky place around the corner. It was pouring buckets, so we drove her honda accord there. when we were finished, around 2:45am, I drove back to my store, so I could get my car. I parked in front of my car, where the old woman in the beetle parked. the whole street was empty..no cars. We were talking for a minute, and we heard a wierd screetching impact noise. We both thought we got hit. We realized there was no movement in the car, so we shrugged our shoulders at eachother. THEN, I looked in her rear view mirror at my car to see the drivers side mirror dangling on the door!!!!!!! I immediately got out of her car and ran as fast as I could for about a 1/4 mile to catch this car. I should have just driven after them, but you dont think properly in situations like this. I couldnt catch them, or get a plate number. My gf called the police, and it was the same cop from the previous incident. He drove around and couldnt find anything. It was a early 2000's white Accord/corolla/sentra...... When I got home, and got the car in the garage, I realized what they actually did. they sideswiped my 3 1/2 week old car . The front fender and wheel, as well as the mirror, which didnt damage the door. Dropped the car off at my body shop yesterday. He does excellent work...mainly on Ferrari, Laborghini, Maserati, and Porsche. Im very confident the car will look excellent. Plus, he drove me home and we stopped at the Ferrari dealership so he could drop off a paint sample. I got to sit in a sweet Koeningsegg(I know I spelled it wrong)...Million dollar car! Please dont start flaming that I shouldnt be parked there. I have parked there for 7 years, with my immaculate e36, and NEVER even had my car bumped. Its a really safe spot. Im totally devastated. Sounds like a scene from a bad romantic comedy, especially the part with the same cop showing up for the second incident. I hope everything works out for you and karma catches up to the offender.

Sorry to hear about the car...this is why I do not take my car out except into driveways of houses of people I know or just a quick joyride and the occassional BMW parking lot meet.
If the car has to be parked on the street or the parking lot...i'd rather walk.

Not sure what you have in mind for the repair, but both the bumper and the fender should be bolt on/off. I'd replace them with new parts rather than have bodywork done. Here are some before and after shots of my M5 after I hit a coyote. Bumper and fender replaced with new parts. You might want to consider a BMW Collision Center for the repairs if there is one near you. I stand to be corrected, but I believe the car cannot be CPO'd after major body repairs unless a BMW Collision Center does the work.

Wow, that's frigging horrible luck. Totally sucks that somebody can just swipe you and roll right on by, no immediate consequences. I'm sure you'll have her back in perfect shape in no time, but I'll second the idea of having a certified BMW Collision Center handle the work.

That sucks man . Once is bad enough but twice in the same day is just plain lousy luck. You'ld probably have better luck hitting the lotto then have that happen... In this case its the "unlucky" lotto... Im sure it will look as good as new though once its repaired...

the bmw paint centers are terrible around here. there are sooooo many cars going in and out, they always do a lousy job. as for CPO-ing a car, those scumbags will certify anything. i learned this the hard way, when I traded in my e36 back to the dealer I bought it from. turns out, my cpo had a major front end collision. the car was never supposed to have been certified. i dont care about cpo-ing the car. leave that for the next sucker, just like I was. |

Thats cause you were in a M5, if you hit the coyote with a smaller car (ie 135) it would have FUBARed the car

Took the 'new' right out of your car. This too will pass after you get it repaired and start using it again. The only silver lining I can see is you had two doses of drama but it will be only one dose of inconvenience.
