Interesting Key Fob Find
I entered my key fob into the slot upside down and my 135 still started up. I didn't realize the fob can be inserted 2 different ways. This might be common knowledge but I found it to be cool.

It's a horizontal slot just by the start button. You obviously have CA like I do. I've only ever put the fob in the slot once. Better off to just have it in your pocket.

Remeber to put it in the slot if you go for service. That's the only way it Downloads info for the SA's computer.

In fact, you don't even need to insert it; just rest it against the slot and the car will recognize it, *blong!*

I thought the same thing, but I took the car in for service last week and forgot to do it, and the guy was able to pull the info with no problem. I think the last time I inserted the key into the slot was before the last oil change, so it must be doing it wirelessly. |

Doesn't the manual say to periodically insert the fob into the slot to keep the battery charged, or did I just make that up? Maybe that's for non-CA fobs?

Yeah, that's on the non-CA fobs only. The battery in the CA fob isn't rechargable. The RFID system is passive (meaning it doesn't need the battery at all) so the only time the battery is used is if you're using the buttons to unlock the doors or trunk, and it should last a long time for most people. Even still, it's a standard battery you can get at Wal Mart so it's not a big deal. |
