Oil Level Reading > Max
Just bought my M3 from a BMW main dealer. They (apparently) serviced the car just before I got it. I checked the oil level for the first time today (what a waste of time not having a dip stick); it reads > max. What should I do?
Thanks, Mark |

Take it back. BTW, the iDrive and the user manual does suggest that you take it back when the oil reading is > MAX. Why did you ask here?

Do a search to learn how the sensor works, and how to read level properly. I'd make sure you're indeed overfilled before wasting your time at a dealership. And if that's the case, the front sump holds about 1/2 liter, so it's pretty easy to DIY if you choose to. Good luck.

+1, Do what elp mentioned and if it is indeed overfilled, then take it back to the dealer ASAP.
