spare tire size
Another question in the quest for the non-RFT solution...
When considering a spare tire size, since our tires/wheels are staggered, should the spare width be the same as the front tire? If you get a flat on the front, you can't take a wheel/tire off of the rear to put on the front for steering as you can w/ a square setup. Can you use a spare that is narrower than the front tire width? A narrower spare tire like the one LeatherZ sells takes up less space in the trunk than a full size spare. Thanks. mpp

Thanks Rob - that was what I was assuming, but wanted to get some confirmation. Much appreciated. Still on the fence about getting a steel doughnut & spare f/ LeatherZ or cheap 17x7 wheel & full-size tire f/ TireRack. Trunk space is valuable to me, so I'll most likely go w/ the doughnut.
FYI for all, my dealer is getting a BMW doughnut spare wheel in to see if it will fit over the 135i front brakes. They get enough requests for it they are just geting one to finally answer all their questions. But, they told me the spare wheel alone would run about $235. Expensive IMHO. mpp

I was thinking expensive when compared to the LeatherZ spare @ $265 for wheel and tire. And expensive when you can pick a cheap 17" wheel f/ Tirerack for about $120 +/-.
