AA Exhaust...
Finally got my AA Exhaust on my E93. I must say this is a beautiful looking piece and the sound/tone is very nice.
However, I find it has a very deep drone from 1000-2200rpms, where you spend a lot of time rolling around in 2nd gear in city driving. It's actually amazing how it gets quiet around 3000rpms, like other members have posted. With the top down its almost annoyingly boomy cruising around the city, however, top up, windows up its quite reasonable. Any other E93rs notice this? Do you just get used to it over time? |

But you do get used to it so after awhile it's not as noticeable as when you first get it so it quite often seems quieter.

No, it actually lost a lot of the deep drone that it had. I'm pretty sensitive to drone, so it definitely improved.

It sounds incredible, i think i'll live with the drone and see if I get used to it....if not, I'll be in touch LOL! It definitely wouldnt be as bad in an E90 like yours or E92

I think this loud booming sound in the 1000-2000 RPM range is common in most of the aftermarket exhaust. My Vanguard Ti Exhaust has this as well, but it does quiet down over 2K RPM. Even the stock exhaust was droning in this range under load in the lower gears.

I think it will get a bit louder over time, and if not louder. it will sound better . My eisenmann sounded better after 1500-2500 km

Umm...its hard to say! but I would say that its a bit louder with top closed because it echos within the cabin kind of. but its a lot clearer & cleaner sounding with top down because you hear all the little noises of the exhaust. (which is my fav part of the exhaust TBH). By the way, I forgot to mention above, it will sound more clear (or at least my Eisenmann did) it sounded almost muffled when it was new, but once it opened up it got a much more clear & clean sound if you know what I mean.

Congrats on the new system and thank you for choosing the Active Autowerke Signature Exhaust for your M.
The reason you will notice an increase around 1k-2k is because that is when the engine is "dragging".. The term "drone" is usually associated with the "booming" sound while cruising around 3k-3500k. We went through a few different designs before deciding on our current design with the Noise Cancellation Chambers to address this issue. |

It will be slightly louder once broken in. I wouldn't say it's more "boomy", just a bit louder, definitely a bit more aggressive as it does sound a bit muffled when first installed.
