Delivery delay: 2010 Z4 s35i not yet EPA cleared
My Z4 s35i arrived at Brunswick Saturday and should have been at the dealers today or arriving tomorrow... But my CA checked with the VPC this AM 1000 EDT and was informed that the 2010 s35i is not yet released/cleared/approved by EPA for sale in US and so will stay at the VPC until it is.
2010 s30i is cleared. 2009 s35i also cleared. But not yet the 2010 s35i model. "One to two weeks" is the anticipated delay, "more likely one week." But sales manager at dealership said he'd heard through a BMW channel that the hold would be cleared almost immediately. I'm probably the test case on this one and will keep status posted as this moves forward. |

This was posted at Bimmerfest on 5 October:
"Here's an update on the pending CARB certification. I contacted the California Air Resources Board by telephone a few minutes ago and was put in touch with a Mr. Joseph Salmingo who is the staff member assigned to BAYERISCHE MOTOREN WERKE AG for On-Road Certification. He admitted an error had been made with the Executive Order for the Z4 s35i in that it had been accidentally omitted from a group that was submitted and approved earlier. He indicated he had submitted the needed paperwork to correct the problem last week, and that it should be signed and the Certification in effect by the end of this week." Rings true with story from my dealer. |

What does your waiting timelime look like, that is, if they have given you a clue as to how long they'll screw with you? Bummer! |

Off the topic. Once you get your car. Could you let us know if they are still offering great lease deals like the 2009s? My 2010 is scheduled to arrive port on 10/16. I know I've been waiting to get this car and the dealership I ordered it from did not take a deposit from me and even gave me a loaner 335i to drive around in until my car arrives. I just hope they will play ball nicely when it comes time to negotiate. The only reason why they gave me a loaner is because I told them that another dealership has a 2009 sitting in their lot with similar options and manual 6speed that I could pick up now if I wanted to with a great lease deal. And that I did not want to pay Avis for a rental until my car arrives. So they gave me a loaner in the mean time. That was nice of them. I was bummed that there was a scratch on the bumper and they said the whole bumper would need to be repainted for the 2009 one.

The way the state's financial situation is now days, they'll do anything. Now, many state control agencies such as CARB are funded by user fees, including charging other state agencies a user fee just for the privilege of being regulated. |
