E9X M3 Drop In Air Filters (cheaper from the manufacturer)
With all these prices I have seen, I am disgusted why these guys are taking people's money for a ride.
Ape, Pyspeed and MS are all made by S&B Filters. There is a thread somewhere that I read they are the manufacturer. Why pay the upcharge when you don't have to. Just go straight to S&B and buy it yourself for 44 dollars plus shipping. It beats all the pricing that is given around. These all come with 1,000,000 mile warranty from S&B themselves. Email them and check it out for yourself. edit: here it is http://www.m3post.com/forums/showpos...29&postcount=1 http://www.m3post.com/forums/showpos...16&postcount=5 |

I think AFE makes their own. I remember somebody posting the AFE factory tour photo album.
And.. I believe EAS stop selling the AFE (other than deep discount sale/clearance) because of the fitment issue they had (read in the M3Forum.net).

Just call them up, that is what I did and got my filter shipped out.
AFE makes there own or they outsource overseas, I am not sure on that, I haven't really followed up on AFE since I don't like there items as it isn't proven stuff. No one can dyno and can hp near what they claim. I looked all over M5board and some other E60 boards. There was a huge refund on e60.net bc the intakes were wack. |

Also, Since you decided to publish this information on an open internet forum, I'm sure this sales channel 'loophole' will be closed now. Thanks...

AFE's dry filter has made 7.5hp on an otherwise stock car, and I also believe Niterider's car was running the AFE dry filter when he made 392whp, so I'm pretty sure they make the same power as other filter makers.

I think he was running the Macht Schnell at that time. I remember him tossing the AFE a while ago.

That's what they said. I think you're the lucky one with great fitment.
By the way, your car was so beautiful with yellow Brembo and brushed P40!!!

I like the stock Donaldson filters with the charcoal element (i.e. the one that AA sells). BMC and ITG are nice alternatives too, but I never liked the cotton elements.
