Akrapovic Exhaust before break-in?

Gents..

Thinking of getting an akrapovic ti exhaust installed before I take delivery... would this affect break-in... or should i break-in car first and then install....

Thoughts, recommendations appreciated.

it wont make a difference... if anything, its prob better because your exhaust will be fully broken in once your car is done with break in.

...so what is a 'recommended' break-in for an aftermarket exhaust??? Seems like I see several vids of installs with guys going upwards of max revs & hi-speed runs immediately.

There are no moving parts with an exhaust so I am not sure what people mean by "breaking in". Yes the tone may change after a while but you can not improperly use an exhaust.

The OP is talking about the 1200 mile break-in for the car guys.

Not the Akrapovic exhaust system...

It will not affect break in! Advantage of installing it before delivery is, that you have a brand new stock exhaust for sale. Disadvantage meight be, that your local BMW dealer meight be not happy with the aftermarket exhaust during the 1200mile service. But it sounds like the dealer would be willing to install the system before delivery, so I see no penalty for you...

Hi zender,

I would wait a couple thousand miles, and then order the exhaust you want. That extra time, especially during the 1200 mile break-in period, may give you a better idea of what mods will suit you best.

If you still decide to get the exhaust and install it during your 1200 mile break-in, I'm sure it'll be perfectly ok.

Gents is the weight saving significant to performance/drive (apparently we are talking around 23kgs lighter than the stock exhaust)..

The e9x M3 is a pretty heavy high-performace vehicle as is, but I believe the main way to truly feel the weight savings will be on the track.

Every pound lost makes a difference, so I say go for it.

My dealer is installing mine before I take delivery. They are even installing the Dinan Racing Middle Exhaust Software for me so I don't have to worry about the CEL.
