Remus Race
After the miserable time I had trying to get those irritating Agency Power mufflers to work, only to end up back to stock, I call Jason@RennSpec. My goal? To order Remus Race with Eisenmann connecting pipes.
One week later? My goal had arrived at RennSpec in style. I picked up another something to get done along the way, but hey, us car people, right? It never ends. A little pile of joy. Gorgeous system. Fantastic quality. Jason playing the first ever prototype Eisenmann Trombone. Just kidding. With two spectators 100% fully focused on the installation at hand.... ....It was time to take off the infamous suitcase, and slap on a Remus. Once RennSpec fired up the system, I got to say, I was surprised. For a Race exhaust, it wasn't as loud as I thought it'd be during idle. Then Toan took the car outside, and punched it. Damn, you can hear that thing from quite the distance. It sounds great! It's such a rich and smooth sound, I like it quite a lot. Unlike Eisenmann, which sounds absolutely brilliant, but loses some of it's M3 character (or so I firmly believe), I feel that the Remus truly brings the M3's character to life. It still has all the sound qualities of the OE exhaust, but everything is amplified in a beautiful fashion. The quality of both the Eisenmann connecting pipes and the Remus Race mufflers were great as well. Addressing the "drone" complaints on this forum....really gentlemen? Really? Clearly you haven't been in cars with any REAL drone. Just turn the radio on and put the volume on 1, problem solved. At one point, being so worried by the drone complaints posted on the forum, I called Gary at RennSpec, just to confirm that this was indeed the race system, and not the sport one. It's definitely the race. Now, I know it's still breaking in, but even so, I can't believe that it will drone THAT badly even after some miles are put on it. So, a good looking system, a pleasant sound, great quality, check. Remus Race with Eisenmann Connecting pipes is something I'd definitely recommend for someone looking for an enhanced sound, while not changing the character of their M3 drastically. Jason, I owe you one, and yet another +1 for RennSpec. And I hope this helps anyone that had any lingering thoughts about Remus with Eisenmann connecting pipes. I'll try getting some sound clips up once my friend with a video camera is free. Till then folks! Edited with more pictures! I have the tips sticking out a little bit, so when you get up close to the bumper, you can just make out the words REMUS stenciled onto the tops of the tips. Well, it was my friend's idea though. Mine changed tone after break-in, a couple hundred miles. The tone changes somewhat for the better. And... I agree about the drone... its not a prob at all. But... must admit I still have not heard my own car from 'outside' while someone else drives it under load LOL.

Bad ass looking exhaust. Very nice. Just wondering, OP, you said at idle it's not loud at all but WOT it's loud as expected. But how loud do you rate it? Also on normal cruise or city driving without romping on it, how loud is it then? I'm on the fence between the sport or race and mate it up against my Encore Innovation X-pipe with HFC & resonators when it comes in next week.

I think if you're sensitive, then mating the Race with the X pipe might be too loud for your tastes. The forums can attest to this by the number of people that WTS or WTT their race systems for sports, due to X pipes.
On it's own, it's not bad at all. I think the sound deadening in the car does too good of a job phasing most of the noise out, but with the windows down, it's great. But I'm just thinking back to when I had X-pipe on stock mufflers, and thinking that X-pipe with Remus Race would probably be a bit on the loud side, if you're worried about it already. I'd play it safe and go for Remus Sport, since the X pipe will open up the car's vocal cords quite a bit. |

Take a look at your Remus Exhaust tips when they are hot
I notice in your new pics you said you had the pipes adjusted so you can see the Remus name sticking out. I guess you did not know one of the cool things about the Remus Exhaust pipes is when it is Hot it Automatically expands out and you can read the name and when it cools off it goes back in. Take it for a drive let the tips get hot and you will see what I mean I think this is so cool about the Remus enjoy your Remus Race Exhaust

Ya, I think you're probebly right about the Race with the x-pipe. I'm not worried myself about loud. I had a '76 Trans Am back in the day with no mufflers and it would set off alarms in the parking lot, normal cruise it was awesome and WOT it was insane! But I lived in the States at the time where there is no noise restriction on exhausts. But Europe might be a bit different. Good thing both the Race and Sport look alike because they are very nice looking exhausts. OP, nice pics! |
