Brake fluid change?
Anyone else had to have their brake fluid changed before the 16K service?
Service indicator still shows I have 6k to run, but Service due came up last week and after looking into the iDrive system, I discovered that the car is wanting my brake fluid changed. Spoke to the stealers and they want £130 to carry this out outside of the normal service interval... As an aside, saw a cool E90 in Interlagos and the 18" rims with Michelin Alpins, gotta say they looked pretty cool and given the weather conditions he had so much more traction than me...

really?
if the service due notification came up, how can it be "out outside of the normal service interval"? You should point that out to your SA

Yeah, tell me about it. Apparently they will replace Brake fluid reset the Service indicator to "allow" me to go to the full service interval at 16K...I suppose I could hold on for another 6K, but don't want to run the risk of 6K with "dodgy" brake fluid...Rock and a hard place comes to mind.

Does anyone know how much BMW charge for the brake fluid in a service? Just wondered if it was worth supplying my own in the same way I'll be supplying my own oil...

Had mine done at 10,600 miles a couple of weeks ago. Still 6,000 miles to go before oil service being required as well. As I'd only just bought the car I got the dealer to do it foc fortunately.

If they do it with a flush they'd need atleast 2 litres of brake fluid.

I've come across this scenario before. The answer given to me was that brake fluid/service life is calculated from the date of build. I do think that the cost they've quoted is expensive. Are you travelling out of your the area of your dealers network anytime soon?
If so, try another! |

Was thinking of doing just that.........just wondered how receptive the stealers are when you turn up with loads of oil, ie do they suddenly find other things to make up for not making anything on the oil? a sort of "if we can't get you one way, we'll get you another!"
Flapps.

Seriously though same as above. AFAIK, a few forum members have done exactly the same, and didn't get billed any dealer being naughty charges. |

I just got bent over and fucked by a donkey called Stephen James in Enfield. They billed me for £495 for oil change, micro filters and brake fluid change. Never using them again. My own fault for not sourcing a cheaper deal. Hexagon seems to be a little cheaper at £280 Inc vat for the oil and filter. Still cheaper.

She covers them all :-) and works directly with their group directors, she handles internet forum relations etc and is also a e90post sponsor. Local ones to her are Harold Wood (who are excellent btw) and Chigwell (who've also been good).
