M3 vs S55
Hey guys right now I have a 335i E92 stock because my car is a lemon it is almost time for me to return it. I raced my cousin 3-4 times from a dig I killed him 1-2 gears when I went to 3rd he would just walk on me. Here is my question I'm thinking about getting a E92 M3 after the 335i, 6spd MT I dont want the DCT I know we will be back to the track racing again . I want to know without any mods do u think the M3 can take him I would say 1/4 mile maybe a 40-120 run or so. Any ideas? BTW thank you to everyone that has been answering my questions I did find a lot of answers by but this I couldn't find anything.
Thank you ///Minas

+ 1 Especially if its chipped with renntech or any other manufacturer for that matter.
493bhp and 520lbft torque stock? (although im not sure about the second number!) So its a no brainer! However, with DCT it maybe a close race |

I think they are closer to 4300lbs.
If he is modded he should walk a stock M3 in a 1/4 mile

BTW, I looked at the S63 specs and Mercedes has it listed at 4741 LBS curb weight. Maybe the older S55 was lighter?

Cars generally and unfortunately gain weight with next generations. S55 was fairly easy to mod so the chances are he's modded if he's an enthusiast

Assessing whether or not you can beat your cousin in a race seems to be ridiculous criteria for purchasing a car, especially when you already have a good one. There are many reasons to buy an M3, but beating one person in a straight line race should be low on the priority list. If beating your cousin is all you're worried about, mod your current car. A Vishnu Performance System will do nicely and not cost a lot of money. In short, worry less about beating your cousin. If that's not an option, buy an S55 and mod the heck out of it. By the way, even though the S55 is a nice car, it's better suited for an older crowd. I'm guessing you're pretty young. You'll feel like an old man in that car, no matter how fast it is!
