A couple of scratches
Hi,
I am looking for suggestion on what to do. I got a used 2010 Black 128i and it has a couple of scratches. First an overall pic. Then a pic of scratch on the right rear panel. It is down to the paint. Next is two small scratches on the hood. Finally, is a pic of the hood and the swirls that are on it. I am wondering what everyone would suggest. Repainting the whole car is not an option. Taking it to a professional is not really an option(I am in Italy). So, I am thinking dr. chip for the side scratch and maybe the hood scratches and getting ONR for the swirls and following up with a good polish and wax. I would appreciate any thoughts on good reasonable priced hand polishes and waxes as well. Thanks, Chris |

I've heard only good things about Dr. Colorchip for scratches and so ordered a kit for my car. Got a couple of small chips from rocks on the freeway (we use them instead of salt during the winter) and a few tiny scratches; am waiting for the roads to be cleaned up before I bother fixing the scratches.
BTW - congratulations on the purchase! Beautiful!

Go get some "3M Fines-It" polish. it is made JUST for these types of scratches. Really does the job well. I think 3M makes three grades of this stuff. Use the weakest(grit) first. You can use it by hand or machine. I prefer hand polishing with this stuff. Costs about $30 for a liter bottle. IF you have a Matto's autobody supplier in the area they sell it. Or just stop by any body shop.... I am sure most are familiar with it too.

There is also BMW's OEM touch up paint. I just ordered some from Circle BMW, cost $29 shipped to my FPO (military address - I'm assuming you're military, too?). Anyway, I haven't used it yet (it just came in today), so can't tell you how easy it is to use or not, but just so you know, it's out there. Good luck and nice 128i!
BTW, where in Italy are you? Aviano? Vicenza? Naples?
