New Tune Only Record: 12.038 @ 115.55mph
I noticed most people post their times in here, rather than the appropriate section lol...so here goes again in case you missed it.
Ran at the track today in Louisiana. Temps were in the mid 90s all dam day, they dropped to about 80* tonight. Track conditions blew. There was a 10mph head wind, 4 wheelers on dirt tires tearing up the lanes, and a **** ton of excess water after the burnout box. I hate to make excuses, but I think with a better day It could have gone better. Car: 135i Map 10 no adjustments MS109 Unleaded gas 245/40/18 Street Radials on stock wheels Car took a while to adapt, i saw traps anywhere from 114-115. Heat soaking was the main issue. 60'..............1.809 1/8th ET......7.772 1/8th MPH....92.26 1/4 ET.........12.038 1/4 MPH.......115.55 DA was 2094 I sure wish i could leave harder. At times i would break traction before i even left. I really think i need to run a wider tire in the future. This car really has 11's in it. Just needs to be a really kool day and itll get there. Next up is other bolt ons...maybe ill see mid 11's with bolt ons. BTW, yes I own a meth kit, NO I didnt use it. I had 11's tune only on my mind for the longest time, but now its time to move on from that goal, as I am content with my 12 flat |

It's not about being street legal, do you not understand? It's a modification!
I have an intake on my car, if I went to the track I would not say 'tune only' just because the intake is legal... it's a mod. Changing tyres = mod. Anything that is not STOCK is a mod, and therefore it counts. If you stripped the car of its interior, would you still say 'tune only'? Are you for real? |

Only engine modification, was a tune. Thats it, no DCI, not meth, no exhaust...just a tune, took out some seats, put on a different set of tires, and added some higher octane and thats it...yes, im "for real"...mate |

Hahaha... now he took out the seats!
Any other changes?!?! Did you take your exhaust off? That's not a mod. Doors and boot lid? mod·i·fi·ca·tion (md-f-kshn) n. 1. The act of modifying or the condition of being modified. 2. A result of modifying. 3. A small alteration, adjustment, or limitation. PS- I am not hating the time, nor your efforts/skill to get the time, as I have said before it is excellent. What I am 'hating' is the fact you are claiming the ONLY modification is the tune... and clearly it isn't. Last edited by BBK; 06-01-2010 at 05:24 PM.. |

i could have sworn i put that in as weight reduction, thats my fault.
Regardless of what you think, every tune only car has some other change. I would consider it an upgrade, not a mod. But hey, opinions are like buttholes |

well if your going to get vicious about it.
it def is not a tune only car it has been moddified. I went to the track last week stock, didn't even change out the cdv and kept stock tire pressure nothing was changed except for an oil change with OEM fluid. I now consider this tune non-street trim, tire moddified. There are reasons why f1 has single tire suppliers to keep the playing field level. Again not kocking the numbers because they are awesome despite all the changes. Your welcome to continue calling it tune only if it makes you sleep at night. edit: autox is a perfect example of minior tweaks putting someone in different classes. |

The title implies that with a tune only, including street tires, not DRs or Slicks, you ran XXX. Just because a "mod" or change doesn't give you HP(DRs), doesn't mean it doesn't count. DRs are a HUGE reason to your times. Like others have said, not knocking or hating your times, great job with the mods that were eventually listed.

Sleepydub the problem is tune only is a racers term and not many on the forum are racers. Those of us who drag race understand to be tune only with any octane or tires you want to run. To some guys off the forum it probably means running map 3 on 91 octane with runflats at the stock pressure.

Yep, its widely accepted that DRs, weight reduction and race gas are not modifications in the street car drag racing scene. Technically they are "modifications" but the drag racing scene just accepts them as givens.
