Detailer's Domain: Aston Martin New Car Prep
Aston Martin Vantage New Car Prep
To my surprise this Aston was no were near the others we have done or as bad as some presented by other detailers on this board. (NO SWIRLS, Light scratches, imperfections from the factory) this was truly a freak of nature! Figured I would post because its a moving piece of art! What was done - Exterior - Wheels were prepped with Sonax Wheel Cleaner and cleaned up with various brushes - Tires were spritzed down with P21S Total Autowash and washed down - Wheel wells were spritzed down with P21S Total Autowash - Wash down and rinsed - Door jambs were cleaned up - Clayed - Dried - Paint inspected and measured - Wheels were protected with Swissvax Autobahn - Tires dressed - Masking - 1 Step Polish with Menzerna PO85RD - Inspection with Fenix, 3m Sun Gun, Infratech, and natural sunlight - Menzerna Power Lock - Rubber and Plastics Treated - Exterior windows and mirrors cleaned and sealed - Exhaust tips cleaned Interior Detail - All interior surfaces cleaned and protected, including glass, and all vinyl/plastic surfaces. - Carpets and upholstery vacuumed. Why ohh why would you ruin the front of that Vantage with a front plate? Thats a crime against God and humanity.

Im suprised u guys dont use softened water..or a blow dryer to dry.
Ive been using a water softener attachment on my hose, foams better and less spots. And I dry completely with this 4hp blower I got, the whole car top to bottom, takes me bout 10-12 minutes, dont touch it with a towel, i just got so sick of streaking towels n the possibility of scratches with it. |

Hey Phil, I was just wondering what your typical wash routine was. I have a foam attachment for my pressure washer but haven't decided on a final process yet. For example, I can start dry, foam on + rinse off (to remove dust, loose dirt, etc.), foam on + hand wash + rinse off (for grease and tougher dirt), then dry.
What kind of wash process do you guys usually use? Keep in mind this is for regular washing, the car isn't being polished after so minimizing swirls is important. |

thanks for the question.
we typically... 1. rinse 2. foam 3. rinse 4. foam 5. use a sponge or mitt to wash the car 6. rinse 7. blot dry yup a long process but this prevents any issues for us. |

Mike Philips (ex. Meguiars) has a good video online on the washing process.
http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...56069207401372 I use the following procedure: - rinse - foam - brush logo, emblems, vents, etc. (Meguiars slide lock detail brush) - rinse - wash upper panels with sheep skin wash mitt (using 2 bucket method) - rinse - wash lower panels, bumpers with microfibre mitt - rinse - pad dry |
