N55 dct Exhaust startup & rev sound

Here is a video of my n55 dct on cold startup with some revving. listen closely to the more obvious dv whistle and turbo spool compared to the N54 setup...too bad the valve flap closes so early.

I've also included a video of my golf-tee'd 335i coupe stock exhaust sound and thought I would throw in a clip of my a3 exhaust with hjs downpipe only for comparison as well. Yes, the A3 is my daily driver.

Thoughts?

Mostly Loving it so far...BUT, I'm not in love with the way it downshifts. It seemingly feels and takes 2 steps. (No pre-engage like upshifts...has to dis-engage then re-engage) so you don't get that instant torque surge like when you nail it like on a N54 step trans. It takes a touch of time before the torque swells. On my A3 DSG, downshifts feel more engaging when it comes to feeling the power. Im at 1400 miles...so let's see if it improves.

So you own both the steptronic and DCT? That's awesome! How do you compare the two in your opinion?

Have you tried pushing the Sport button? The DCT has a slower downshift when sport isn't engaged, but when it's on it's just as quick as the near instant upshifts.

Yes I've tried it both ways as well as with the car in Full Manual Sport Mode...I think it's a transmission software thing to not allow too much torque swell on downshift as the DCT seems more prone to sensitivity with heat and monster torque. Who knows. Still fun nevertheless!

The MY 2011 sounds better than 2010.

I'm sorry but personally based on the sound clip above, the new 2011's sound similar to all the srt-4's I run into on the street. To be honest I would have to say the n54 has less drone and more of a powerful sound, as the N55 sound reminds me of the clip below. Idk maybe it's different in person. Just my .02
