I am a rookie! help with a starter kit!
I just got my first ever BMW (128i) I need a starter kit so I can clean this baby! I was going to get one from Griots...but thought I would ask first. Also my biggest fear is the plastic headlight covers...how do you clean them without scratching them? thanks! Garth

Hey Garth,
As with any cleaning of your car, use microfibres and applicator pads to avoid scratching - making sure they are clean. When I clean the headlights, I just use microfibre towels to apply & remove the cleaner and haven't been scratched at all. As for a starter kit, i'm not really sure what's available for you. I'd suggest getting a good quality wash, a hell of a lot of microfibre towels, a few applicator pads, and a good wax system like Mother's 3-stage (i've used it religiously since detailing my 125/128 myself). |

PS - A thread of myself and another Aussie member of 1Addicts on a detail day. All the products we used are listed there - took us all afternoon. Obviously you probably won't be doing all of this stuff yet, but gives a good idea of what we do and how we go about it.

Garth, Greg from detailedimage.com should be chiming in soon. He's great to work with, not only does he sell you what you need, he will promptly and patiently answer any questions you may have pre or post sale. He can provide you everything you need to get started.

^ very much so. My advice would be to research research research. Read articles, discussions, and watch videos to learn some of the insides and outs of proper car care. Do things right and your car will literally look better than new. Do things wrong and you'll watch over time as your car looks faded and dull.
Congrat's on the BMW and happy detailing! |

Go with chemical guys honestly, they have the best selection of stuff and their prices are awesome. I do professional detailing so if you have any ?'s let me know.
For starters get this, http://www.chemicalguys.com/Professi..._p/acc_101.htm and a nice clay bar, that will keep your ride looking good. |

Yes I do! Thanks! I ordered a good starting set...the only issue I think I will have is removing bugs from the front bumper..whats the best way to do that..and whats best to use? I used to soak them with water a scrub them off...it was a pain! I am scared to use the chemicals on the paint...thanks in advance, Garth
