How to get a speeding ticket of $1 million dollars in Switzerland
What happens when you drive around in a Mercedes SLS AMG in Switzerland? Well, if you are dumb enough to drive around at speeds of 180mph then what happens next is nothing short of catastrophic. For starters, your speeding ticket will add up to about 3.5 times the value of the car. After that, your car will be confiscated and, of course, your license will be no more.
Unfortunately, this isn’t a hypothetical question. This is actually a very real situation that occurred when a very unlucky, and highly stupid, guy was caught speeding on a Swiss road, A12 between Bern and Lausanne. The road’s speed limit was set at 75mph and the 37 year old driver was going 180mph, in case you forgot already. After a few miles he was pulled over, his car was confiscated, he was taken to the police station, and he was left with a speeding ticket of almost $1 million. Why such a hefty fine? Well, according to the Swiss traffic offenses penalty system, the amount of money one has to pay for a speeding ticket is calculated in direct relation to the guilty one’s income. We did feel sorry for the guy, but we are sure he had an awesome time putting the pedal to the metal on his SLS AMG so the fine was probably worth it. |

If I were a bad ass like this dude I'd make the check for 1.5million and say. The extra .5 million for my next offense.. Throw up the peace sign and walk out the court house..

The funny thing in the article I saw on MSN.com about this was that he had been photographed several times but only 1 upgraded camera was able to get his picture well since the others were speed rated to 125MPH and it supposedly took him 1/2 mile to slow down
In the article they also spoke of the CEO of Nokia in Finland paid a $103,000 fine there for going 47 in a 31 mph zone This whole thing is all over European News Networks right now.

For $1 million he could have made his own race-track and quarter-mile strip to race on.
I'd put the fine on a $40 per week payment plan and pay it off over 1000 years lol. |

Or just stay out of car-hating Switzerland. Just stick to car-loving Germany
But even in Germany, go 31kph over the limit (where there are limits), and your license is gone. |

No I don't! lol But I remember driving around the BodenSee. From Lindau(DE) and down around thru St. Gallen and over thru France and back up into Germany. Counter clockwise around the BodenSee(Lake Konstance)... when I was about half way around(6 O'clock) into the Swiss part... I saw this modern looking TALL 3meter high!! ...LED sign... all the LEDs light up as I approached it! I was quite surprised when I could see it was measuring how loud my car's exhaust was. That was almost ten years ago. lol

Bill Gates in his younger days would get into his $500,000 Porsche and blast up and down Interstate 5 in Seattle at very high speeds in the middle of the night. He got busted seversl times, and eventually lost his licence. At the time, the $500 fines meant nothing to him. A system in place like this would have definitely had an impact on Bill.

How can you afford the 135? I will be getting out of the military going back to school and I'm a little worried about paying for my baby.
