CG Lock for Track Days?
Anyone use this? The device basically locks the lap belt in place to limit your movement in the seat.

I've been using one for a couple years waiting for the Schroth clip-ins.
It's OK - but the issue is that it only plants your hips, your torso is free to flail around, and it ends up hurting your back under extreme conditions. Buy the version that is easy to take out (instructor version), as far as I can tell it's not that safe for the street as it forces you to snug in every time you get in the car, which is fine for me, but my pregnant wife does not "get it". |

Between this and the fact that you are spewing the power steering fluid, I am going to think that whether you are autocrossing or you are not that smooth in your steering inputs....

I've been using my CG lock for years now. Great cheap mod until harnesses become available for the E9Xs, I'm going too fast to not have a hans-device. I was told look for the harness by the end of this year, but I'm not holding my breath. You may want to pull the fuse for the electronic seatbelt arms when you put it on. Otherwise the arms can't handle the excess weight. It's a good compromise if you squeeze the seat bolsters tight.

Before the CG Lock I used a foam knee pad and strapped it to my left leg (foam facing out towards the door. Kept the bruising to a minimum. lolol.

I've used the CG lock a few times in cars that didn't have harness' in them, mainly the street cars that I've driven on the track. It works quite well actually, obviously compared to the action that the stock seatbelt gives it's a lot better, but it's great for the price. I recommend it as well, and not just because we sell it, it's because I use it quite often on track days. Can't go wrong, and it's less expensive than a harness as well. |

^I have to use that step or else my foot gravitates towards the clutch. It's a truly bad habit
On another note, have you been tracking enough rldzhao? This is my first month without a track visit since February

It works as advertised, but I've been more satisfied with simply locking the three point belt tight with the seat back, then pulling it forward into driving position. In that manner, you're held tightly by both the lap and shoulder portions of the belt. It even worked in a ZO6, which generates much more G force, and has lousy seats.

I use to do the equivalent budget way, twist the waist part the of seatbelt a couple times around at the proper position then plug it in. M3 I dont slide around at the wait, shouldwise is a different story.

- put the seat all the way back - yank on the seat belt to lock it and hold it tight - move the seat forward to my desired driving position - voila, locked in. |

Here's a nice article on the guy who invented it. He sold his car and house for this thing!!! http://www.automobilemag.com/feature...tor/index.html Seems like he went the extra step to make it a quality product.

Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by some of the top engineers in the world because some guys sponsored by a company told you it's "better??" But when you ask the same guy about tracking, "oh no, I have a kid now" or "I just detailed my car." or "i just got new tires."

I just put one of these on yesterday. The "on" and "off" position is a bit fiddly and, it doesn't slide that much when it is "off". I have just put the top pate in the ash tray for the time being. It does work though. At NJMP next week to see if it does what it says on the tin!

I use the same method, plus the CG Lock and it works reasonably well. I was much less tired and could concentrate more on the driving using these aids...
